Mono Green Infect

I am loving the speed of mono-green. Here's the list I've been playing around with:
http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=193768

I've been winning left and right with this deck, it's insanely fast.

The only deck that can rival you for speed in the first game is Splinter Twin. After sideboarding, you have an excellent chance against Twin with so many great cards at your disposal.

I would really like to fit Beast Within in somehow, but I'm not sure what to take out. Viridian Corrupter is really strong against Caw-Blade, but Beast Within might be stronger. If anyone has any other suggestions, let me know.

The deck is running 2 Equipments, Livewire Lash, which, like in my U/G deck, provides inevitability. But it also uses Adventuring Gear, which is the reason for so many fetch lands. Adventuring Gear provides amazingly fast wins if your opponent doesn't have a creature out on turn 3.

The downside to running mono-green is that I'm lacking evasion. I don't have the unblockability of Blighted Agent, or even the Flying Infectors that Black has. This typically means your only evasion card is Inkmoth.

I'm going to try and do a lot more testing with this deck this week, maybe I'll even win a few tournaments if I'm online when they start (I have terrible luck with tournament start times).

Here's a blogpost that goes into further detail on the card choices, it also has a match report against a RUG Twin deck. http://ggxgames.blogspot.com/2011/06/mono-green-infect.html

Comments/Suggestions welcome, thanks.

I made some minor changes to the deck, I took out 2 Forests, and 2 Equipment, that gave me room to add in Beast Within in the main board. In the sideboard I changed out Dismember for Spellskite.

I ran through a few decks, detailing how the matches went over on my blog:

A Boros, a U/G Tempo Ramp, and a Mono-Red quick kill at the end.

I have something similar I've been working on, but unfortunately I don't own any of the fetchlands to make it quite this involved for the adventuring gear. Have you considered running Prey's Vengeance at all? I find it works well with the livewire for most intensive purposes.

Before New Phyrexia was released I used Prey's Vengeance. It is awesome with Livewire due to the Rebound effect, but I think the other pump spells that I have in there are better in this specific builld. They either provide a bigger boost or they are free (Mutagenic). If you wanted to run this without the fetch lands, I'd suggest dropping the Adventuring Gear, taking Livewire back up to 4, and you could probably fit Prey's Vengeance in at that point.

Had a flawless record tonight on MWS. 6-0 when I started the article, but I got distracted and played a couple other matches and ended up going 7-1 (losing to a Red/Green Infect deck that was abusing Assault Strobe and winning against a Mono Black Infect deck).

I'm totally in love with this deck. I test a bunch of different decks throughout the week for my blog, but whenever I just want to have fun and smash some faces, I come back to this one.

If anyone on here plays on MWS and would be interested in testing against me, let me know on here or on my blog. Thanks!

Placed 3rd at Friday Night Magic. Running the same list that I posted above except I don't have the Verdant Catacombs, so I just put Forests in their place.

My only losses were to a U/W Caw-Blade deck that is running an older list that has Giddeon and Day of Judgement, but also has Dismember for instant speed removal. It was way too much creature hate and control combined and I just couldn't deal with it. He ended up placing first.

Here's a blogpost about my matches:

Took this deck to FNM and came in 2nd overall with a 5-1 record.

Matches:
Round 1: Tempered Steel (2-0).
Round 2: Vampires (2-1).
Round 3: Mono Blue Architect (2-0).
Round 4: Mono Black Control (2-0).
Round 5: Caw-Blade (2-0).
Round 6: Vampires (1-2).

Full match details and sideboarding choices over on my blog:

I'm still having problems against Vampires due to all the creature removal plus very aggressive creatures, but Spellskite is doing pretty awesome at helping there.

Let me know what you think.
