first time EDH help..

soo..I need help. well..with magic anyway...i have been playing magic with my friend and im ok with standard and stuff but i just suuuck with EDH. i made a few decks but i just cant win.. not even close. so i would like some HELP! alright enough with my sad story. let me tell you a little about what up against, my friend is all about control. the only deck he has that isnt is his rafiq/exalted deck. its mostly locking me down with static orb or frozen orb or something along the line if its not that then its countering or whipping the board... I hate him! anyway i was wondering if anyone out there can help me make up a deck that will KICK his sorry ass so i can shove it in his stupid FACE!
thank you in advance.

List a few of the legendaries you're thinking of using for Commanders to narrow it down.

Ok so what kind of control is he going 1 turn or permanent? Also do you need the deck to be standard or extended? And finally have you considered slivers(which I think can go against control)?

Well slivers are good for single turn, because they keep abilities activated at all time. Other wise i recommend a black deck with some of these Painful Quandary , Ghastlord of Fugue , sinkhole , Helldozer , and this Nettlevine Blight use this cards to destroy all his lands and discard his hand, and then just beat him to the ground with a stick :) Nettlevine Blight this is REALLY good against control, you can eliminate all their lands, also Painful Quandary screws them over. Well this is what i recommend.

Dude, he's talking about EDH... Now, I'm not an EDH expert or anything, infact I've only played it a couple times, but I don't think Slivers would be a good choice.

ok dude sliver u can have sliver legion or queen as the general. And for the black there is a huge range of options, like Kalitas, Bloodchief of Ghet or mirri the cursed.

I know who you can use as the commander. I still think Slivers would be a bad choice, since you can only have 1 of each card in the deck.

My apologies shadowxr for derailing your thread. Maybe someone that knows what is what in the EDH world can come in here and help you out now.

Here's my EDH deck: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=196483

It holds it's own pretty well because it continually brings things back and can usually fetch whatever you need. I'm not sure how well it will do against pure control, but what has always been the shining star was Crypt Rats because of it's kill all effect. It has some hand-control and a decent amount of graveyard control. I'd look into the possibility of making a red-green because of their hate for artifacts and enchantments. It won't do you a lot of good against instant-speed control, but it should handle the board fairly well. Especially (as much as I don't like them) if you use a bunch of cheap goblins or elves.

Here's a thread that explains Commander pretty good. Commander is the new name for EDH, so they are the same thing.
