Getting Started in Standard: Soul Sisters
My wife wanted to play a little Magic tonight, and I suggested she try the Soul Sisters deck. She used this version:

I think that the version that is using Stoneforge is a bit stronger, but this one was easier for her to start with.
One of the funniest matches of the night was against a Darkblade deck. The game went to turn 60 something at least. My wife was able to just barely keep Jace away from going Ultimate, and with 2 Suture Priests out the Darkblade deck eventually just ran out of blockers (it was creating tons of bird tokens using Emeria Angel). She ended the game off a Survival Cache drawing into a Brave the Elements, and was able to swing for the last few damage when his Jace was back up to 11 counters again. She ended with something like 110 life.
I'm thinking I might buy her the cards for the deck since it's so cheap to put together. http://ggxgames.blogspot.com/2011/05/soul-sisters.html
Anyone that is considering getting started in Standard should definitely look into this deck.
