Deck Challenge: Heavy Arbalest

After seeing a certain spoiled card from New Phyrexia, I quickly wrote up this deck: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=172745, which has a combo with the card heavy arbalest, which is usually considered quite bad. I'm curious if anybody else has cool ways to use heavy arbalest and could write up a decklist for it.

To get people started, here are other cards I have thought of to make the arbalest more effective: Any untapping mechanism such as soliton/horshoe crab/pili-pala, seeker of skybreak/copperhorn scout, and so on, infect dudes to get double work out of your damage, perhaps coupled with untappers- this could be in the form of an infect myr and myr galvanizer. Could also be grafted onto the existing myr infinite mana combo.

Anyway, does anybody have other clever ways to use this otherwise rather weak card?

Well, because I didn't see a single reply, I became very interested and built a deck for Heavy Arbalest. This deck is theoretical and takes advantage of the fact that Heavy Arbalest allows THE CREATURE to do a 2 damage ping. with INFECT! Yay!

Prototype Portal to get me more voltaics or other infectors. Maybe more arbalests even?

A little burn for annoying creatures and some black card draw. A few infect black creatures as fodder and maybe a little infect rush.

I also added some mana/infect myr to help handle that nasty 4 equip cost. Might think about adding more mana myr?

I am working on a second theoretical deck for this idea with a different way to handle it. Blue =P

Yay! It's done!

This time no infect. Takes advantage of 8 Myr for mana, glacial fortresses, sejiri refuges for the nasty cost again.

Uhhh, two prototype portals, guess why. And some voltaic keys.


Guard Gomazoa! Nothing says let me stall for a bit like Guard Gomazoa!

This time I have basilisk collar for a little deathtouch 2 damage ping.

I also added venser to blink land for tideforce as well as to reuse the voltaic keys.

Alright, you had some good ideas with those decks! I suggested some major alterations to both of them, keeping the core ideas but generally helping with disrupting your opponent and cutting back on the less useful cards. Let me know what you think.

The updates were certainly interesting. Almost all of the cards I put in were because I remember them off the top of my head and seemed to fit. With a purely theoretical standpoint it looks good, but I doubt Heavy Arbalest will ever be seen in a standard tournament =P

Oh yeah, I also highly doubt anything with a heavy arbalest will be competitive, but it's fun to think about.
