I Drew Skithiryx

I drew Skithiryx a while back as my first mythic rare (that I've drawn from a pack). Now my current Infect deck is... alright. But I am looking for a way to redefine how this card is played.

My challenge? Break Skithiryx. A way to take care of pesky aggro decks is encouraged.

It's a nice idea but very expensive...

Anyone have a cheaper way to break Skithiryx?

you never said anything about finding a cheap way. you just wanted a way to play around the card and attempt to break it, which is what i did... if you want to break cards, you gotta break out the cash $$$

Yeah, I know that. I suppose what I should have asked is if anyone had other ideas and not complained about yours being expensive...

Sorry.

Well, you obviously have to taste the rainbow in order to do it properly- gotta go 5 color. I have no idea how, and I'm too tired to bother now, but it would be epically hilarious.

How... I guess each color does have some infect stuff and all... But using Skithiryx' abilities would be harder...

I'm interested in seeing that if/when you do it.

I'm guessing the 5 color remark had to do with the pet name "Skittles."

Best combo I've seen with him is turn four, everflowing chalice for two charge counters, turn five, 5 for Skittles, B for haste, R for Assault Strobe--that's almost always a turn five win, assuming you can get two poison counters on the player in turns 1-3, which shouldn't be hard to do, and only requires 3 cards by the time you've touched 11 at the least.

Actually I can get something similar to that rather easily with my current deck build.
1. Swamp
2. Swamp, Plague Myr
3. Swamp, Nim Death Mantle, Plague Myr
4. Swamp, Skithiryx + haste, swing
5. Swamp, Equip Nim Death Mantle, Tainted Strikes and/or other boosters if you can, swing.

That will give 4 damage on turn 4, and then at least 6 damage on turn 5... With flying and intimidate.

Sovereigns of Lost Alara +Eldrazi Conscription +skittles= lol
youd have to go three colors but it would be worth it for them to see what you were about to do xD

A good way to boost your infect deck is to first think about playing the infect myr that taps for a colorless mana to help get skittles out faster.it could help. i dont personally but My new favorite card for infect is lead the stampede. card advantage may be the differance for infect and if you look at the top five cards with lead the stampede and even if you only get one or two creatures it could change the whole game. i cant even imagine getting five infect creatures with one card. this would also increase the odds of getting skithiryx in your hand. i can post my infect deck if you would like.

Well, this is the deck that I am using currently: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=147759

It works very well single player and plague myrs are definitely awesome as well as everflowing chalice.

And yes, Lead the stampede would go well, but I am trying to restrict myself to mono black and standard. I'll splash green if I need to though.

So in a 70 card deck, how lucky do you expect to be to get skittles in your first 5, hell 10 turns playing only 1 of them. 10% opening hand and 20% chance by turn 5. Not very consistant.

That is true. But until recently, I had Demonic tutors in my deck. I took them out though to make room for more low cost infect creatures though.

Try this. Relatively cheap and very fun to play with. Skittles and Luminarch are definitely two of the funnest win conditions I've ever played with. :)
