You're probably thinking Iona, Shield of Emeria. That's one of two projects I'm working with actually, I have a reanimator version, but that's just cheating.


Linvala doesn't really have any way to be used creatively. The only way to use her, is pretty much just to sideboard her in extended...

she works well in EDH. Nothing fancy though, just drop her and watch half the table sigh in frustration. Every game I played her she was shot down, copied, controlled, ressurected, you name it, it's like hell breaks loose all of a sudden and that over a creature I wasn't even sure would add much to my deck.

As for competitive use it's like you said, its a sideboard card at best.
