MTG Vault Deck Challenges
Old School Deck Challange
:confused:Im looking for a deck that is made of all legal cards that can fair up to or even beat my dads deck. please post ur deck links if you have a deck that can walk over this one.
Deck link: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=94195
the deck is built around Zirilan of the Claw and Mana Flare
there are 2 first hand kill combos that i can think of
1: Candelabra of Tawnos, Shivan Dragon, Taiga, Mana Flare, Black Lotus(or 3 mox's) {5 to 7 cards}
2: Time Walk, Volcanic Island, Zirilan of the Claw, Mana Flare, Candelabra of Tawnos, Black Lotus, (any Mox's) {all 7 cards}

Counterspells or removal spells will hurt your old man.
Hand 1 doesn't kill in 1 turn. Summoning Sickness.
He needs candelabra to get infinite mana. Kill it and you wont die in 1 turn.
Get a 1/1 flying blocker. He has no trample.

What exactly does he do with Candelabra of Tawnos? You do know it taps right (see errata) so you cannot generate infinite mana with it.
I also noticed that your dad doesn't play any denial which makes the deck pretty vulnerable. Look at a deck like Vintage Landstill that runs Force of Will and Mana Drain. Should eat his deck alive.
Basically if you want to beat a vintage deck you need a vintage deck.You won't find many vintage players on this board though. Maybe you should check DeckCheck for inspiration

If you have access to P9 and the likes I'm sure it will be fun trying out some of those decks. I myself have no experience playing vintage.

If you've got a bunch of money to drop on a deck, here's a crazy one that wins 2nd or 3rd turn 90% of the time:

The concept is a bit confusing and complicated, but once you get it. This deck is mind blowing.

Your dad's deck looks intimidating, but I have a hard time believing its actually that great. First off, I didn't look, but if the errata for the Candelabra says it taps, then he doesn't have his infinite mana. And secondly, both of his combos are 6-7 card combos. Good luck getting those off a good percentage of the time with a bunch of restricted cards. You could go with a blue control deck, and counter his key cards. One of my favorite decks that I used to play with was a "Fruity Pebbles" deck. It was centered around the Enduring Renewal+Goblin Bombardment+Ornithopter combo. I don't have my deck list on here, but it would consistantly win on turn 3-4 (I haven't checked the restricted list in a while, so I'm not sure how legal it is now, so it may not be as consistant any more). I just think a more consistant fast deck would destroy his deck.
