Deck Challenge: The Rock

Your challenge is to make a Standard(Type 2(can't emphasis this enough. It seems some people don't understand what Standard is. Legal sets:M10, Shards of Alara, Conflux, Alara Reborn, Zendikar, Worldwake, and Rise of the Eldrazi)) version of The Rock. I would like to see what ideas the community can come up with. And there might be a prize involved. Not sure yet. GO!!

Excuse my ignorance,
But what is this new fangled old thing known as "The Rock"

Clearly it is a type of deck like "Fish" is

The Rock is an old deck from the times surrounding the Invasions block (I think). It focuses on early-game discard / creature removal to disrupt control & early game combo plays, and drops a bunch of moderate costing baddies in the turns to follow.

Pretty much, it's Jund without the red d.d. burn -- Fast creatures with a splash of black control. Please correct me if I am wrong about this, though :P

I'll submit my deck a little later when I have more time.

I messed up, this is kind of like Junk and Rock thrown together but I'll throw this list up anyway:

A little off of a viable competitive deck because I wanted to add Hypnotic Specter and I wouldn't play 4 Duress in tournaments right now, but this is pretty true to classic builds. If I were playing in a tournament, I'd run Birds of Paradise and maybe Wall of Omens instead. Or Lotus Cobra. River Boa is also standard legal. :)

Also the split between 2 Baneslayers and Bloodwitches is due to the relevant prevalence of White decks. You can tweak those as you see fit. You may also want to try to fit a Behemoth Sledge in.

Hexmage is hard for the deck to cast but is necessary for planeswalkers. Grim Discovery is the only card advantage engine we really have for these colors. It also plays well with Hexmages, Tectonic Edges and our sac lands.

Bojuka Bog is for Vengevines and can be found with Knight.
