There's one small problem about this challenge, what's cheap for you and what's cheap for me could be two very different things (I live in South Africa). That and this challenge is too open. Does it have to be standard? What type of deck do you want (Aggro, weeny, Mill...)? What colours do you want?

I made this deck a long time ago for another deck challenge. It's a mill deck in standard. If you include the cost of the islands in there, it costs $28.16 at starcitygames.com. As a bonus, every card in the deck is 2 CMC or less.

i built a deck yesterday that cost only 7 mtg online tix. that's just shy of 7 dollars (about £4.50 in the UK)

not bad for a whole deck, i'd say. and my record so far is 34 wins, 2 losses. so it's good.

it's an artifact disciple/time sieve/glaze fiend deck. works great, if a little slow. but it's got plenty to keep it alive until it goes off.

here's the deck link:

As an older player (35) that is married and has two children, the money aspect of this game is very annoying. When you have to choose between owning a playset of Jace 2.0, or paying the Mortgage, the game tends to bring less joy to your heart than it used to. Nothing would make me happier than seeing a pauper deck just owning the Meta game. Oh well, time to get off my soap box...
I built this deck a little while ago. I have to admit this deck is untested, but it looks like it could play really well. I've been wanting to run this at FNM, but haven't worked up the nerve yet. My local FNM is very competitive.

This deck is mostly commons with a few uncommons sprinkled in. Average cost 50 x .05 = 2.50 and 10 x .25 = 2.50 cost = $5. And it can win too

Built around 9 core cards - and you can figure out the lands. But I used Evolving Wilds 4x because I can retrieve them from my graveyard with Grim Discovery and trigger Marauder's Landfall mechanic - with a Demonic Appetite he is a beast. And I also went with another slow land in this deck and violated my principles, but Soaring Seacliff 4x lets my Warriors Fly.

Creatures: (24)
Zulaport Enforcer 4x
Nikana Cutthroat 4x
Cadaver Imp 4x
Surrakar Marauder 4x
Venerated Teacher 4x
Enchantments: (4)
Demonic Appetite 4x
Spells: (12)
Grim Discovery 4x
Negate 4x
Unsommon 4x

Also 6 Islands and 10 Swamps

Sideboard: Hmmm?

I really like this deck because it is really unique. Its a bunch of arcane cards that allow you to draw cards and splice on kill cards. Ire of Kaminari is used to end the game. Its also insanely cheap, in fact, I bought this deck completely foil! :)
