Deck Challenge- T2 Five-Color

Participating in the T2 Colorless deck challenge inspired me to compose a new challenge: Creating a T2 legal, five-color deck. I've made only a few in my time, and they've always been difficult by design, with only a limited selection of multi-colored mana generators available; however the current standard metagame includes not only a tonne of easily acquirable multi-color lands and artifacts, but also an arsenal of incredibly powerful colorless spells. So lets see what you can do with it.

The rules are thusly proclaimed:
+Must be T2 Legal (paying mind to any banned or restricted cards)
+Must include spells of each color.
+Must be exactly 60 cards, with a sideboard of up to 15 cards.
+No more than 25% of all spells can be colorless, including spells in the sideboard (otherwise it'd be entirely too easy to make a colorless deck, with each other color making only a small cameo)
+Bonus points if you can make an easily affordable deck: No more than 10% of the cards should be Mythic/Rare, 30% uncommon, and 60% common, including spells in the sideboard. This stipulation is not required, but encouraged.

Good luck, and have fun!

Built this for the 5 color dech challenge. The deck has a ton of card advantage. Almost any cascade will end in a card draw. The one exception being Bloodbraid into Rhox War Monk. Didn't really meet the low cost request, but it wasn't a requirement.

I'm sorry for going inactive on this thread, but as things go.. I came down with Hell Flu v2.0 (damn pharms and their propagation of advanced strains of influenza!) It had actually been attacking my system for a few weeks now, but I was fighting it off to end my semester without hindrance. Then, no kidding, the moment I handed in my last final, I felt it starting to take over..

At any rate, I will look over the decks in greater detail when I get the chance (being out of commission for a week has also put me very far behind in my work around the farm!) and will announce the winner in the next day or two.

In the meantime, if anybody is still interested in submitting anything, feel free!

Take it easy, and keep it sexy, my fellow geeks and geekettes ;)

It is a tough choice between Whitey's defender deck, and Rin's ally deck. I really like the look of both.

Rin has a very nice looking Ally deck, and the sample hands I drew were almost always useful. This deck looks like it'd be a lot of fun to run! Whitey's deck consistently generated useful sample hands, as well as get's bonus points for designing an affordable deck. He did go over the count for uncommons, but only includes three rares -- a just compensation I think.

First place I am awarding to both Whitey and Rin.

Cardhearted, I like what you were playing at, but with so many Planeswalkers in the deck, I would have expected a few more higher-cost cascades to try to cheat them out of your deck. The one advantage to playing exclusively low cost cascades is to cheat out low cost combo plays by filtering through your higher cost cards. Cascade is a great mechanic for a five-color deck, but unfortunately I just don't think you utilized it properly.

4GGR0, I like your use of five-color casting costs / activated abilities. I especially think Dragonsoul Knight and Paragon of the Amesha are fun cards to play. But in the end I did not consider your deck for ranking against Whitey's and Rin's because of the sheer quantity of rare lands used when there are much cheaper ways to generate multi-color mana in T2. I do really like this deck though, it's just that by comparison Whitey designed an effective deck mostly out of commons and uncommons, while Rin's high rare count was used to a much better effect.

Good game, folks, and I apologize again for taking so long to getting around to finishing the challenge off.

Cheers!
