MMOEXP : A new hard mode for Elden Ring that alters certain aspects

Elden Ring is hard. Make a mistake with anything, a cliff, a boss, or a jump, and you're bound to be returned to your last Site of Grace. The inevitable death is sure. It might even be the most important thing. The process of dying is the way you learn to overcome the seemingly insurmountable difficulty of restoring peace to The Lands Between, and become the Elden Lord. You'll die a lot before that happens however, and quite a few mods have appeared to ease the process. However, the one Elden Ring modder is rebelling, and has made the whole game even harder.

"I believe I've come across about five or four 'easy mode'-type mods out on the internet," creator Silentverge02 told MMOexp via direct messages. "They all basically came up with the same concept"50 percentage less damage from enemies and health'. It's a bit lazy to me I guess."

As noted via PC Gamer, Silentverge02 released a new hard mode for Elden Ring that alters certain aspects of FromSoftware's Souls-like game. The Prepare To Die mod, accessible via Nexus Mods, does more than simply boost enemy health pools and damage output. According to the mod's description it increases the stats of enemies like damage as well as defense and resistances in to New Game Plus levels, while keeping other factors like health, focus points and stamina at the same. Enemy AI is also a little more sophisticated with this mod, so they can hear and see you from afar, and can track you for longer and more intensely after you've escaped and they can spot your backstab attempts.

This Prepare To Die mod makes some other adjustments as a wider field of view, delegating speedy travel to cathedrals and churches, as well as modifying New Game Plus to accommodate the extra difficulty as well as changes to the AI of enemies. The incredibly challenging Elden Ring just got a lot harder with this mod. Great.

In the mod's description, Silentverge02 claimed that they "got tired" of watching easy-modes appear in Nexus Mods. Silentverge02 outlined in messages to MMOexp that while Elden Ring is enough of an experience already, they thought AI of the enemy could be "lacking" and desired more of a challenge than the game can provide. Much like a glutton who needs to be punished.

"I'm not bashing those [easy mode] mods or anything," Sileventverge02 told us, "but it just seems like an opportunity to see who can ruin the game the fastest. I don't have a problem with the modders of other modders for Elden Ring, and I am not averse to easy mode mods. Personally, I enjoy the challenge in everything I do, but especially gaming.
