instants

Hello magic fans

if my opponent targets one of my creatures with a instant, can i counter with another instant -for example Bathe in Light ? http://magiccards.info/rav/en/2.html

how about if my opponent plays a sourcery?

Yes, you can.

However, it all depends on when that spell is resolved, when it was cast.

It's all about the Priority and The Stack...

you can Instants in response to pretty much everything.

basically, whenever the priority is passed to you.

I highly recommend you read the comprehensive rules and a few articles to get a better understanding of the stack, priority and timing...as these are pretty much the fundamentals of how spells will interact with each other.
