Try throwing an Avenger of Zendikar or something else big in there.

That's the point. Shape Anew becomes a Vindicate at that point. Then you Shape Anew the spine into another spine, putting one back to your hand. You basically have a vindicate all the time.

So.. Path isn't standard legal. Halimar Depths is just bad, go to 4x Tec Edge. Leyline of Sanctity MD isn't good. Mind Control is a meta call, usually if you're playing RUG or something.. but Volition Reins might be better.
23 land is not enough. Gerry Thompson just recently advocated running 27. Run 4x preordain, and cut two cards from the MD.

What do you think about the Viscera Seer/Bloodghast Combo? Works awful well, you'd need fetch lands, though.

Drop the Bloodwitch and Nighthawk, they're not good in today's Standard environment (which is what I assume you're aiming for :)

That being said, you need to decide whether you want to be fast or be more of a control deck, I don't think Grave Titan fits a speed vamps deck. You might find that you end up with him stuck in your hand, unable to be cast. Same with the Mimic Vat; it's a weird card, more of a "Win More" card, not necessary I think.

Just some ideas. I wish i would've had help when I was new... lol :)

Oh man.. where to start.

Sign in Blood. You need this as a 4-of.
Consume the Meek - great one-of MB, mostly in the SB after that.
Mind Sludge anyone? That card will 98% flat out win you the game if you drop it T5-6.
Corrupt? Great against control. They'll never guess it's coming, and can be a huge swing. Think late game playing off the top, 12 lands, and you draw a corrupt. GG

This being said, run 25 land, all swamp.

Drop the Percy's, man. There are better alternatives. Sure a 6/6 Flier is nice for 4, but you don't really want to tap out for it - at least not in my meta. Alternatives are Grave Titan (needs to be at LEAST 2, if not 3), and believe it or not, Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief is retarded good here. Her ability doesn't require her to tap, and you can use it on defense (creeping tar pit, anyone?). She's deadly quick.

Thoughts on Mimic Vat? With all the removal, it's kinda nice.

Five? 25 is a great number, I don't want to struggle on land drops...

I've thought about see beyond, but I'm thinking Jace can do that pretty adequately. But believe me, I'm aware of See Beyond's existance.

That being said, should Jace be a 4-of here?

Put in into the roil, it's a nice help to have if you're gonna rely on putrefax.

Knight of the white orchid, student of warfare? These are two very good ones.

It was the original idea, but since they're all in lightning bolt range, we decided against it. Black is there for removal, the shriekmaw/makeshift mannequin package is pretty hilarious. Wall of Omens for the stall and the draw effect.
Why cut the black and white?

I like Deprive more than Cancel, I have run U/B control for a while.
Liliana tends to be a little slow too, I might cut her.

I know this might sound weird, but I'm suggesting this so you can abuse your Steppe Lynx even further.

LAND:
4 Arid Mesa
3 Misty Rainforest
4 Plains
3 Mountain
3 Forest
4 Jungle Shrine

Try that instead - it's definitely off the top of my head, and probably needs a little tweaking. I think that Steppe Lynx was made to be abused by fetches (duh!), and this will also ensure a little more speed and mana fix. Let me know what you think! I know it's a tad more expensive, but trust me, seeing a 4/5 Steppe Lynx turns 2 and 3 with a Wild Nacatl or Student of Warfare Behind? It feels pretty good ;]

I really don't think polymorph has a purpose in this deck, it should come out. I would suggest Street Wraith instead - you would never cast him, naturally, you would just cycle him to help come up with your cascade spells.
Also, I believe that running 4 hypergenesis is too many. You don't want to draw into them. Run three instead, it should run a little smoother.
City of Brass is a land that should be in here too :]

Hope this helped!

I personally don't think quicksand should be here, I would do:

-2 Quicksand
+1 Island
+1 Plains

I personally hate bringing in duals tapped if there's a chance to not. :P

Surprisingly, I have a lot of trouble with U/G overrun.. but after playtesting a few times against it, it's pretty easy to algorithm out.

I know, the 61 card thing was.. well, difficult. I had it at 60 with 24 lands, and I just wasn't getting enough, but ever since adding the extra land, it runs pretty well.
Planeswalkers are a problem game one. After that, grixis charms come in from the board, and all is well. I don't really tend to focus on PW destruction too much, although blightnings, bolts, and creeping tar pits help. I tend to take the GerryT method and just ignore them, so far it's worked decently. I have about a coin-flip with UWr walkers in the games I've played so far.

Also, might I suggest Lone Missionary? He's a pretty decent two-drop for life-gain..

Serra Ascendant NEEDS to be in EVERY life gain deck. Also, I always run at least one Felidar Sovereign as well.
