Deck Description

The main focus of this deck is to be unforgiving. Poison should not be merciful. You wouldn't want to die a slow painful death if you were poisoned in real life... Would you? I think not.

I was first inspired by a deck called "Injected with Cyanide 2.0" by the user ryan1028.

The deck was originally pretty amazing and I decided to make my own version of it with a few tweaks thrown at it to test it out until I liked it completely.

If you haven't thought about it yet, I try to use the Stabbing Pain to make sure that the opponent has no blocking creatures at all. Vines of Vastwood is good for blocking spells and abilities and then completely dominates when kicked.

The sideboard is there for more control. But if I would play them I would always try to Virulent Wounds their creature first and then run the Disfigure, Grasp, Etc... So they get a poison counter when the creature dies.

The first time I played this actual deck I got 4th out of 25 people. I could of done better, but there was a few times where I didn't properly shuffle the deck as I usually do and I got mana screwed on the rounds that I actually lost. Before the actual tournament though, I went against a couple of my friends. Both of them will now not play me in Magic if I'm running this deck.

Update: Played a tournament on the 22nd (FNM). Hit an opponent so fast that at the end of the round he had the audacity to call me a "Little B***h" in front of everyone. Judges were notified and that opponent is now on a watch list.

In other words, this deck has the possibility to piss off a lot of people (This is your second warning about running this deck.)

Update #2: Just an FYI, I've been currently updating this deck off and on over at TappedOut. I'm using MTGVault as the source for the original deck.

Deck discussion for The Poisonous Push (Standard)

I like this variation, as it looks very similar to the original way mine looked. I would leave Necropede on the sideboard and put in 2x Garruk and 2x Skithy though, in case of a late game, but that's just me; Necropede comes in and Ichorclaw comes out against other aggro decks. Duress is very much needed for the side also, as cards like Pyroclasm and Slagstorm completely destroy aggro decks, though our Crusader is a good answer to those cards. With New Phyrexia completely spoiled, I'm really considering using Blue somehow also, though there isn't enough mana-fixing in standard to utilize a 3-color Infect deck...

The sideboard is very iffy, simply because of the costs of most of the cards; Haunting Echoes costs 5, and in most cases, you should've won the game by the time you have 5 mana available. If you want removal, just run Doom Blade and/or Go For the Throat; other options are Disfigure and Grasp of Darkness. Creeping Corrosion is too narrow for tournament play, because it lacks versatility in matchups (you only side it in against very specific archetypes); I'd just run 4x Nature's Claim instead, as it is loads cheaper, is instant speed, is more versatile, and giving them 4 life doesn't do crap for them. Besides, hitting your own Myr and Necropedes with Corrosion is counter-productive. I simply wouldn't run Swords in a deck like this, or Equipment in general. If any Equipment were included, Adventuring Gear would be the way to go, but then you'd also want 10-12 fetchlands and ramp spells like Explore, and the other buffs would be unneccessary. Glissa is a great creature, but she doesn't really help an Infect deck much. All of that said, the mainboard looks great, I'm just not digging the sideboard, as most of it runs contrary to the speed this deck is supposed to have.

No equipment? I like to run Livewire Lash in my decks to punish burn/destroy players. Free 2 poison counters.

livewire lash is very slow. Turn 2 drop lash, Turn 3, drop creature, Turn 4 equip; by then, your creature has probably gotten removed in most tournament settings.

New Phyrexia cards of interest to me are Lost Leonin, Blighted Agent, Corrupted Resolve, Despise, Grim Affliction, Whispering Specter, definitely Glistener Elf (1/1 Infector for 1 Green!), Mutagenic Growth, and Phyrexian Swarmlord. I'm really considering turning my Infect deck into a Landfall-based deck that utilizes Blue to an extent, though it'll probably end up just being 2 colors.

I'm thinking Blue-Green isn't a bad idea now, as Blighted Agent (1 Blue, 1 Colorless for a 1/1 Infect unblockable) is a better 2-drop than Plague Stinger. The only difference is that Agent can die to a Doom Blade, but I think the pros outweigh the cons.

Couple that Agent with Thrummingbird, and you've got two very effecient 2-drops. Board-sweepers are the main concern for this deck, which is why Spell Pierce and Corrupted Resolve would be necessary in a Blue-Green variant.

I'm already building a Blue/Green Infect deck that has most of these cards in it. Don't forget Glistener Elf and Phyrexian Swarmlord that ryan1028 mentioned in his earlier comment.

Triumph of the Hordes is also a very interesting card that will probably be in my deck.

I'll go through your posts one by one Ryan (For Response):

1:
Garuk sounds good to me... Left him out for right now for the fastest way to play. I don't think I'll put skittles back in though just because of his cost. (Tap 5 and then have him killed off immediately or journeyed? Not my personal favorite thing to do)

2: Doom blades are always good... Same with Go for the throats, but I would probably stick to Disfigure and Grasp. Those are the two playsets I would actually put in to the sideboard for right now. The way I have the sideboard setup though for now is just personal choices when I'm going against certain people in the tournaments. Other then that, the deck currently as it is runs over basically anyone. Also I'm trying to stay away from Landfall as much as possible with this deck.

3: Awesome.

4 & 4.5: I completely understand that. With the way that I have things right now though I usually use Vines to protect certain creatures. I can totally see where you're coming from though.

5: Triumph of the Hordes looks freaking ridiculous. Completely ridiculous. That is all. :P

Just updated the sideboard. I'm pretty happy with it now as I've already play tested with the actual sideboard.

(Had the cards already in my possession... Just never thought about putting them in there.)

No problems. I actually took out Hand last night and put in GroundSwell instead. Got 4th in the tournament again because of it. The two I lost were both to player error.

The deck is nice, quick and straight to the point. I used to run something quite similar but it was just too boring and didnt fair as nicely as I wanted. Since, I have switched to mono white infect and a blue/black infect. You should check them out.

Not sure why people would have so much of a problem with this deck...
It is simple, but effective. +1

I agree...people turn into whiny bitches when playing against infect. I suppose infect can be pretty annoying to play against, but it is also extremely easy to dismantle.

I do like the simplicity and speed here a lot, and I LOVE the mana curve.

I also agree with this. Seriously, if your deck can't handle playing against an infect deck, what made you think it was good enough to be taken seriously anyway? I can't tell you how many times my opponent on MTGO has rage quit the moment I drop a Phyrexian Crusader. The worst though are the people who don't concede, they just disconnect because they're too arrogant to actually lose the match when they don't want to play it.

drop the praetors for 3 blight dragons or a playset of vat mothers brah

i think blight dragon is way overrated. infect should be fast! a 4/4 for 5 mana is too slow. for 5 i can put out plague stinger with 2 or 3 pumps making it a 7/7 or better. plus praetor is great for the finishing blow.drop a couple cheap infects to finish them off.

I think its great! I run a legacy infect thats very similar and its my number #1 currently. I do sugest doom blade/go for the throat side board. personaly i find them better than grasp of darkness.

well done

Nice deck. It's really very quick XD! I would add nature's claim in the SB it helps a lot when your opponent have a SoFaF or a tumble magnet and since you're working with poison counters their life gain wouldn't bother.
I also have a very similar deck, but I use some of the NPH cards that will be out soon, so if you want to take a look and tell me what you think I can do to make it better here is the link:

Hey, really nice deck especially putting in Stabbing Pain to tap creatures. But i think you should include some mass removal in your sideboard like Black Sun's Zenith to counter decks like Kudoltha Red.

Do comment on my infect deck too, thanks ^_^.

Being a newb to magic my 2 pennies don't really count for too much but I think this deck is sweet.

Mean and fast which is usually the best way to win, I try to create some stuff myself but I can't really make many uber-powered decks such as this one with the cards at my disposal. So nice job man, and I one day hope to be able to create something this powerful.

I like this deck alot. That being said I have a love/ hate relationship with poison love being the poisoner not on the other end and it does tend to make people mad sometimes including me last FNM tourny but I was more peterved from the taunting ohh well. There was one idea I seen in his deck that struck me as a possible add you could try. He dropped a plague stinger (no big deal one of my squadron hawks will take that) but 2 things went wrong 1 never drew a hawk and 2 he dropped a Piston Sledge on Plague Stinger and then it was a real problem. So that is my 2 cents on the B/G poison again great deck.

i love this deck, and id love to use it. the only thing i would consider changing is swaping the Giant Growths for Primal Bellows, and thats only due to personal preferance where a choice between the two saved my (in-game) life.
