Deck discussion for Standard B/R Vamps

lol@deck title.

Okay, so, it seems as if every deck builder starts off with vampires. I started with vamps, a couple of my friends started with vamps, and the cycle goes on.

But, the secret to vamps is that every card has a LOW casting cost. i.e the highest mana cost in your deck is usually from dark tutelage.

With that being said, most vampire decks often splash red, for cards such as lightning bolt and arc trail. they may seem to do little, but in the scheme of things they do a lot.

So, usually the typical vampire build is 4 bloodghast, 4 pulse tracker, 4 vampire lacerator, and 4 kalastria highborn... also they run 4 viscera seer. (they're actually quite important)

I know that right off the bat, you're probably thinking "WHAT, No nighthawk?"
Well it's actually very simple, vampire nighthawk is a 3 drop. and that's in all honesty, too slow to really do anything essentially productive for vampires.
vampires should realllly get going turn 3. and once kalastria highborn hits, it's usually either you deal with her or die.

so if I were you, I'd look up some vampire decks that placed in the 2010 worlds. I know one deck placed.. 5th maybe? Iunno, but it was b/r.

if you have any questions, feel free to ask :D

Should I keep my captivating vampires in there or swap them out for something?

I'd ditch them. they're far too slow.

and also, pyroclasm will kill most your guys as well, so that should go, too.

i'd ditch the 4 captivating vamps and 2 pyroclasm for 2 more hexmage and 3 go for the throat with 1 doomblade.

you need to be able to kill stuff FAST.

hey there.. im also a vamp player, and i play two colours, red and black..
firstly i played that child of night too, but after u played it, u will realized that she's not that good.. for 2 mana she's easily die for having 1 toughness.. for nighthawk i place 4 of him also.. hmm.. 4 gatekeeper, i think 3 is enough..

i use arc of treason, lightning bolts and fling for the red of mine, arc of treason is really helps. imagine, u steal wurmcoil engine then sac it with viscera seer.. u will get wurmcoil tokens in your field.. red really helps for enemy with pro black..

bloodghast is actually not necessary, because u're not guarantee a landfall. use bloodchief ascension instead of kalastria highborn, it sucks your enemy a lot better!

avarage its good, but u need more bombs to win, for me i use sorin markov, kalitas and ob nixilis(even though he's not vamps but u can fling him and deal massive damage)

also, u need to remove urge to feed, add some sign in blood, doomblade and other destroyer, 4 hexmage is a must also.. in my deck i have 12 destroyer, enemy could not stand a chance..

thats my opinion though, feel free to ask and keep up the good work :)
