Deck Description

I'm about to buy the cards I need for this deck, but I don't want to waste any money. Please leave comments, criticism is welcomed.

P.S. Sorry about the obnoxious title, but it seems to be the only way to get input.

Deck discussion for Land Goes Boom

I think Lux Cannon is not quite fast enough to pull it's weight. You might like Hoard-Smelter Dragon better?

best of luck!

I don't exactly get what you are trying to accomplish with this one. This might be ok against someone with artifacts but what about someone without artifacts? I can't tell if it's land destruction, burn or what. If I am totally being a retard and missing something let me know.

I just don't see 4 liquimetal coatings being enough for this to work. I could be wrong though. I'd like to see it in play,

This is something I've considered, but I can't figure out a way to get around that.

the only red card I know of is Hoarding Dragon, but it isn't the most effective way to get an artifact.

Maybe in the last scars block they will have something else that will help. I have a buddy that is trying to get something kind of similar working.

It is an interesting idea but it lacks focus and speed. Not sure what to make of it, really. Are you intent on keeping it Red? Because, if you ask me, the whole course of making things into artifacts with the coating, to then blow them up... could be faster and more effective using different colours.

One thing I can say though - it needs more speed, you need some mechanic to spam the use of the coating. Something like Voltaic Key.

Also, look at your mana curve - it's heavily geared towards 4+ mana but has no real mechanic to get that mana fast. You may want to look into something like Rite of Flame, if you want to stick with Red. Just to get a few key things out faster than I suspect they would get out in the deck's current shape.

So, this reminds me of a green deck i built with the same theory in mind. It used the Liquimetal coating to turn almost everything into artifacts, and then blow everything up. It was pretty swift. Main differences though, was colors - obviously - and choice of spells and methods. My deck got a pretty good lockdown with Sylvok Replica and Mimic Vat. With a liquimetal, you continue to blow things up for 4 mana each turn. Also, my deck was chock full of Naturalize, Nature's Claim, Acidic Slime, and the new Viridian Corruptor.

You definately have some strength with Horde-Smelter, but i'm not sure it's enough... splash some green to really up the hate. You would pick up so many more lethal spells, and it's really easy to do given the amount of dual colored lands that are available...

Another cool thing about what i did was run Ancient Stirrings... 1 green mana, check the top few cards, snag liquimetal or mimic vat, or sylvok... at the worst, you grab a land! I would strongly suggest splashing green for the stirrings, and, to be honest, green naturally has more artifact hate. Another neat trick i had was Ezuri's Brigade, because with liquimetal and any other artiface in the deck, i had Metalcraft... and an 8/8 trample on a Mimic Vat is nasty...

Just some ideas.

Thanks, I've been considering adding some green to it for a while, but this seals it.

I like the changes. Looks pretty good. My only thing is that the Voltaic Key really doesn't do you much good. It's a speedbump. Yes, it untaps the Liquimetal or the Vat, but it's not really amazing. I would like to see 4 more basics. That will put you to 24 land, which helps to never miss a land drop, so your Horde-Smelter comes out on time.

Other than that, I think you're ready to demolish some FNM's.

you dont need tectonic edge, you should be destroying their lands by turn 3 or 4 right? and they needs 4 or more lands to activate edge, so whats the point? your just mana screwing yourself
