Deck Description

I'm not sure this is what the Reaper King was talking about in his flavor text, but today, the Reaper will become the Reaped.

This deck was built because I found it interesting that Reaper King's CMC was 10 and not 5 , and thought I would abuse that fact. And I was bored.

Anyway, the point of this deck is to play Channel the Suns to play the king. Then sac him with Eldritch Evolution, and get out a Colossus, Worldspine Wurm, Progenitus, or Ulamog. The other scarecrows are mainly there for flavor. Since the cards listed above go back into your library when they get put into your graveyard, they're perfect for discarding. Also, you only need one of each thing, so any extras can also be discarded.

I started with Reaper King. Found out a way to play him - channel the suns, then found a way to abuse his mana cost - Eldritch Evolution. It still needs a ton of work, though, so any suggestions are great. I need a better way to get the cards that I need, a better way to not die at the beginning, better cards to search for once I use Eldritch Evolution, etc. Obviously, I need better lands, but I don't want to deal with that right now. If you make this deck, put in all the lands you are willing to pay for.

I have no budget, because I probably will never make this deck, but I would like to keep it modern

How to Play

Play whatever you want to early game, but discard everything you don't need with Faithless Looting, and Tormenting voice. Once you get to fourth turn, get out Reaper King with Channel the Suns. Next turn play any remaining scarecrows, as long as you have three mana left to play Eldritch Evolution. Search for Ulamog, the Wurm, Progenitus or a Colossus depending on the situation.

Deck discussion for It's Harvest Time

You could swap Channel the Suns out for say somthing like Chromatic Lantern.
You got the infinite loop of mana in Pili-Pala and Grand Architect that could help you if you want to stay in scarecrow's and cast you'r expesive spells.

I'll have to check those cards out, thanks.
Edit: Okay, so I looked at all those cards, but I don't think I want to use them. Chromatic Lantern might work, but I like Channel the Suns better, because since it's a sorcery and not a permanent, it's really unexpected for the opponent. I would run the Pili-Pala Combo, but then it would have to be tri-color, because I want to keep the discard. Also, it takes double blue, and Eldritch Evolution takes double green, so I probably won't be able to get the right mana, especially since I'm way to cheap to buy good lands.

Aren't there better ways to abuse Eldritch Evolution? I mean, if you need Channel of the Suns to cast a Reaper King ... I would use cards like Scornful Egotist, he doesn't need any extra cards, play him morphed and then unmorph him - tadaa! A ccm8 creature that cost you 3 colorless to play and one blue to unmorph.

There are definitely better ways of abusing Eldritch Evolution, but I love the idea of the Reaper King getting reaped. And this deck really wasn't supposed to be good. I can't think of any deck that it would work well against, and there is very little chance that I'll pull of the combo.
