My second attempt at the budget Foggy Maze build. Dropped Species Gorger, Urban Evolution, Terrifying Pressence and a Phantasm in favour of Pacifism, Hold the Gates, Riot Conrol and keeping Door as the Alternate wincon. I chose to keep Aetherize over Supreme Verdict or Planar Cleansing in order to remove my opponents side while keeping my walls in place. Making my opponent rebuild their board state goes a long way to getting the gates out to win. Riot Control is great lifegaina nd damage prevention. I stops ALL damage, so works against Devil's play, Boros Reckoner, Rakdos' Return, and Clan Defiance while netting me some much needed life. It still relies heavily on blue for the walls and green fr fog efects, but is now more spread out with Pacifism and Riot control accessing the white mana in the deck.
You need to activate maze's End's ability to trigger teh win condition. You want to aim to untap it with 9 gates in play, or 8 gates with the 9th in hand, so you can activate, tutor for the 10th gate (different gate names, remember? Not ten total.) and trigger the win. Not having teh additional card draw of Urban Evolution hurts, but with 8 cards that can tutor for the Gates, and Hold the Gates making your walls bigger and bigger, it shouldn't be a problem. Aim to play Walls early, save the fog effects for the late game when you walls start to fall or you get Wraithed. The walls are big enough early on to handle early threats, and landing a Hold the Gates make them big enough to withstand any barrage. Drop your blue and geen gates first to get that mana rolling, and wait to drop maze's End until you have no more unique Gates to play. You need the colured mana more than colourless. Play Maze's End a turn before you need it, since it comes in tapped, but leave it for you opponent's End Step to save your mana for your fog effects.
