Deck Description

SO this is actually a metagame play on my part. After the last few major tournaments, alot of people seem to be bankning on and running several aggro, damage based netdecks. Mono green and Burn have made a resurgence, and scapeshift and splinter twin are pretty rampant. of the 30ish modern players, not one has run Martyr-Proc, or soul sisters. seem like it may be a very good suprise....

How to Play

though souls attendant and soul warden you can gain alot of life, especially in multiples. martyr of sands triggered on turn two, revealing 4 white cards, will put you at 32 life, making serra ascendant a 6/6 flying lifelink

I wish you the best of luck! It sucks when the metagame gets stale!

How hard is it for you to see a sword during a single tournament? It just seems like 2/60 is a fairly low number to actually create a benefit when you don't have the ability to use stoneforge mystic...

they seem to be a rare popup. i guess they are just nice ideas in here, but i am thinking of cutting them, they are "win more" cards so far

Yeah they don't seem like cards that really do a bunch, even with squadron hawks unless you have a way to fetch them up, and again since stoneforge mystic is banned, they seem rather lackluster in here.

Archangel of Thune, not human but, with your lifegaining Archangel of Thune and all your other creatures can get very big, very fast.

Thanks! I'm in progress on a new description for this. Went 3-1 on Wednesday night with this list, just as human tribal with the sister-martyr combo. I still need more cavern of souls:(

Emeria should be a one of since it's unlikely to trigger with minimal plains. -2 Ranger of Eos +2 Auriok Champion. Cards to consider having an answer for are, Torpor Orp would prevent life gain from sister's as well as stop Champion of the Parish and prevent Silverblade Paladin from pairing, Chalice of the Void would hurt if came out countering cmc 1. I've seen more then one burn deck run Leyline of Punishment or Everlasting Torment in their Sideboard as well which are Devastating to you. My suggestion would be to have Disenchant, Aura of Silence or a combination of them and Austere Command in your sideboard. Leyline of Sanctity is another card which could come in very handy in many match ups, there's reason it's $20.
Just my opinions sorry for rambling.

I agree with your sideboard options, it would be much better if the deck had some sort of answer to artifacts and enchantments, since some of them kinda cripple your deck Zaklax. Leyline of Sanctity and Aura of Silence would be my personal choices, but hey its your deck.

eh i know i need the leylines, i just need to order them online none of the shops have any. ill add in some artifact/enchantment removal!

Honestly I think Emeria is almost not needed in this deck, it just seems like you will almost never get to the point where it will begin activating. I may be wrong but how often does emeria help you with just 14 plains in your deck? I have never used emeria nor this deck so I'm just going off my own deck building knowledge...

its rare,,, ive only ran this deck in 2 four round tourneys, and it came into effect twice in 21 matches... so not great odds but hey its a utility land. i want to run flagstones of trokair but i have yet to pick them up..

okay i made a similar deck and i think you should add rhox faithmender and archangel of thune and maybe Nomads' assembly, thatll pump up your life, make lot of tokens, and make them huge

Love the cavern of souls idea. Great blue counter. I think I like the idea of the swords more than having them in the deck but if you pull one, its over!

i agree, i feel they are good enough to run, but are not drawn enough or im already winning... but yes the caverns has saved me a few times

So this deck has undergone some big changes! I broke down and bought 2 auriok champions, 4 champion of the parish, and 2 cavern of souls! Turned the deck into a human tribal, and have had better results. Added ghostway to the sideboard to save me against board wipes. Suppression fields and thalia's in SB for control matchups. Pretty happy with my setup right now.

Seems pretty good right now, I like the four champions, this may be just the deck they needed to be a thing in modern!

Maybe Suture Priest or Thraben Doomsayer. Just a thought, Suture Priest does the same as the sisters and it does damage to your opponents if they play creatures but it has 2 cmc. Doomsayer is really good too, a 1/1 every turn. You won't get to the fateful hour though.

I have a Question also. Wouldn't a plains be better than cavern of souls because you can use the white mana to play non-creature spells.

Not against a control deck... A lot more creatures than other spells

Finished 8th in a 24 person tournament last night, going 3-2..... Was pretty cranky after due to both my loses being to boggles...

My game one was america control. Started off with my god hand, turn one Serra ascendant, turn two martyr, crack martyr that turn, gain 12 life, swing six, gain 6. He never found an answer.

Game two I had both swords attached to a champion of the parish, then got a silver blade palidan to stick, that was game.

Next was burn, which just could race me with my life gain.

Boggles kicked my butt 0-2

I played be tokens, which got mana flooded game one, and then couldn't find enough spells that make tokens game 2.

Last round went 0-2 to boggles again grrrrr!

I have mixed up my sideboard to help with bggles, geist, and tron. Let me know what you think

I would consider running 2x Spellskite and 2x Engineered Explosives in sideboard. In my opinion they are the 2 best answers to hexproof thyme decks. Not counting Glaring Spotlight since it is not at all versatile, it does it's job well but outside that 1 thing it's useless. Spellskite is just a beast and speaks for its self. Almost all the hexproof creatures you will run into will be 1 or 2 cmc which makes Engineered Explosives very effective. Which happens to stay versatile since it's an excellent sideboard option in token match up's as well as others.

Excellent deck I like seeing approaches that attack the meta instead of just joining the net-deck fest.

The one thing I'm curious about, what's the gameplan against infect where they don't care if you gain 100 life in one turn? While it's true the poison player is dead frequently if they haven't finished you off by turn 4, this archetype is efficient at ensuring quick games especially the simic versions that run blighted agent and artful dodge to prevent a chump and trade.

Aside: what's the boggles deck? I've never heard of it at least by that name

Sorry boggles is a west coast (US) nickname for UWG hexproof aura deck, the name coming from slippery boggle. I guess against infect I would hope for a mix of path to exile, spellskite, Thalia, maybe even tuned halo to target a creature. Then ghost quarters to get rid of inkmothn. Its something I have yet to face! And thank you for the kind words!!!!

Thanks for the clarification on boggles, I haven't faced that deck yet. I know each area's meta is different as the area I play in tends to run a lot of tron and angel pod which is why I select infect; quick enough to stop those decks and shenanigans. Sounds like you have a plan for dealing with those who play the poison game at least barring the unfortunate turn two kills.
