Deck Description

Everyone wants to run a wedge from khans.... Well I'm still excited about all the artifact love in m15! So here is my idea for it. I love the idea of turning an ornithopter or a darksteel citadel into a 5/5 with ensoul artifact. Can definitely steal wins. But if that doesn't work just shrapnel blast a scuttling doom engine

Deck discussion for Rabble Bots

So I just won game day this Saturday at my shop. Don't think anyone was expecting this at the tourney, but I now have a nice champion playmat:)

i was glad to see artifact love in m15. won a few casuals off izzet artifacts this way
the swiftspear is what izzet decks needed for standard for sure
I actually just finished a deck I've been playing around with utilizing it. Modern tho

Heya Zaklax13!
I have a great deal of respect for your opinion, especially considering your experience and insights regarding competitive play.
I'm interested in crafting both a standard and a modern deck for FNM. Though I have played casually for years, the only tourney I've participated was a sealed deck tournament at the release of the Visions expansion to Mirage.
Sufficed to say, I could use your help.
I saw this deck for standard and immediately liked it. I made some revisions and wonder what you think... would you be willing to help me gear up an aggressive whuppin deck for standard?

Here is the link.

As it is basically a clone of this one, I haven't released it to the public.

Thanks ahead of time,
Shinza

Exact list I just ran tonight. All the counter spells post sideboard and the early 5\5 ensouls really helped lead me to 4-0

Went 3-1 last night, beat abzan 2-0 both times last night. I side out 3 swiftspear, 2 scuttling doom engine, 1 rabblemaster, and 1 chief engineer then put in 3 negate, 3 disdainful stroke and one more mindswipe. This let's me land a threat and protect it against the removal they run, and get rid of seige rhino's.

Next matchup was GB devotion. Game one I mana screwed him with 2 phyrexian revokers, naming his elvish mystic and sylvan carytad. He played another mystic and never saw more than 2 lands. Game 2 I mulliganed to 4, just couldn't find mana and a threat. Lost that game. Game 3 I sided in singing bell strike x2, thassa x1, disdainful stroke x2, mindswipe x1. Took out 2 rabblemaster, 1 doom engine, and 3 swiftspear. I ended up with a turn 2 ensouled citadel, then mindswipe a polukranos and disdainful stroked a Nissa.

I lost, 2-1, against femur monsters. Can't say much other than I had really bad draws in game 2-3. I need to table shuffle more, and think of ways to help with the decks inconsistency on occasion. Thassa helps but turn 3 may be too late

Hey, Zaklax13! Thanks for the reporting. It was fun to read the narrative! Man, that is cool. Rep +1.

Ok, to business. This deck is an amazing idea. I love it and want to make it a superstar. (Selfishly, my "I Like Big Bots" deck is hanging on every word we say).

To the Analysis!!!
How does Thassa help?
Scry is good. Seems unlikely that that the devotion will get there. The unblockable is good too. Is that the advantage?

I'm wondering if something like Anger of the Gods would help to remove blockers.

I'm also wondering if maybe 3 Scuttling Doom Engines would be better than 4. My logic for that is that "4 of" means you want it in opening draw. "3 of" means you want it for sure in the game, but not in opening draw. I know the Scuttling Doom Engine in my opening draw is gonna sit in my hand for awhile.

With that in mind maybe 4 engineers also reduced to 3?

I have to say I am a fan of the Rabblemaster! That goblin is ridiculous!

I noticed you seemed to go away from the Singing Bell Strike. Is there a reason?

Any interest in Ordeal of Thassa?

How is the mana base working? You mentioned that you were having problems getting a threat and mana in the same draw.

Are the pain lands worth it? I'm thinking of adding Shivan Reef to mine.

Which cards are opponents playing that trip you up?

Thanks again for posting your results. It was cool to see how it went.

The shivan reef has really helped with any mana issues, and if I get a mountain/island out I can just tap it for colorless. Thassa's unblock able ability is her best use, it really breaks games with a stalled board state!

I find myself siding out a doom engine or two quite a bit, but I had a game I won simple because I played three of them!

Just have not had a situation where I wanted the singing bell strikes over counter spells. I think I just need to put them in and see how I do
