Deck discussion for Naya Burn

I almost feel like Eidolon of the Great Revel would be better suited as a sideboard card. Yes, it's a great card, but with your curve, you'll end up kicking your own ass.

I'm almost in agreement here, but in burn it ends up locking opponents out of the game late. feels lik a necessary evil, but if they print something better ill surely switch it over

I run a set of them in my burn. They end up doing more damage to my opponent that to me in the end. Ours a great deterrent

This looks good never thought to use green and white(R/W sure for charm and Helix) in burn. Plus having a 3/3 for one green is nice!

+1

So, did you play it? How did it do? (+1, original!)

Nice deck man, this burns fast. My suggestions are..

Drop Exquisite Firecraft for another Temple Garden
Drop Shard Volley for another Lightning Helix

I would suggest Guttersnipe and Young Pyromancer as they're great staples for burn in my opinion, they're likely a tad slow and your 1 drop creatures are great in this deck.

How did it go at FNM? Leaving a +1 Like.

Check out my newest deck on here when you get the chance.. I definitely appreciate your input :)

Why does everyone keep on trying turn the beloved Zoo Burn that you've got here into boring linear burn?! Don't change it!! This is the same 60 (almost the same 75!) to a deck I've been working on (not posted on here just on my phone) so keep me posted on how it goes!

The FNM results you all wanted!!! We had 16 for modern, and I got 3rd!! $30 in store credit, not too bad it finished off my plays the of cryptic commands.

Round one I faced RG TRON, almost feels like a free win. I won the die roll and went first. T1 I cast nactyl with a stomping ground, passed. He played a grove, passed back. I play sacred foundry, cast goblin guide, swing 5 then bolt him to 12. His turn he plays an urza land and pyroclasm's. My turn I cast swiftspear, atarka's command, (+1 team, 3dmg), put him at 2. He just plays a land and following turn I bolt him.
Game 2 he mulligans to 4, I beat him down to zero with eidolon, guide, and a bunch of lava spikes.

Game 2 is jund, he goes first, fetches into a shock, then thoughtseizes me, going to 15. He gets a little pissed at himself for that. I cast swiftspear and swing down to 14. He plays a dark confisant(why?!). I double bolt him to 8, then swing him down to 5. He reveals Liliana of the veil with dark confidant, goes to two, and can't shock in his land.
Round 2 I get turn 1 duress, turn 2 you'd, turn three Liliana and he takes the game.
Round 3 I get him to 8, he cast night of souls betrayal and clears my 4 creatures, and I never find three burn spells, dying to double goyf.
I fall to 1-1

Round 3 of the tournament I get a little scared. I'm playing a good player, and he built a uw control from worlds. I win the die roll and go first, making me a bit more at ease. Keep a hand of Boris charm, eidolon, swiftspear, command, lava spike, fetch, fetch. Turn one I fetch a sacred foundry, cast swiftspear, swing one. He plays a collonade tapped and passes back. I draw a land, play eidolon, swing , pass back. He plays a flooded strand, then passes. I figure he has a counterspell, but gotta go for it. I draw another mountain, cast atarka's command, 3 to them down to 15, then ramp a land in, cast Boros charm, putting them at 11. I swing in 5, he paths the swiftspear, takes 2 off eidolon, then 2 from the attack, down to 7. His turn he plays a land, plays a wall that lets him draw a card, the vapor snags eidolon back to my hand, going to 5. I draw a burn spell, cast both, he's dead.
Game 2 with him he goes first and cast serum visions. I have two nactyl in my opener and an atarka's command, so I cast nactyl, pass. He casts what I thought was telling time, passes back. I cast nactyl #2, bolt him, and swing 3, putting him at 14. His turn he just plays land, passes. I cast atarka's command, he remands. I'm stuck on 2 lands, but I swing 6, putting him at 8. He shocks in a hallowed fountain, passes. I go to swing 6, he cryptic's, tapping my team then draws a card. I cast Boros charm, he is at 4. His turn, plays collonade, says go. I draw exquisite fire craft, show him, he scoops, laughs , shows me two more cryptic's in hand, says he was hoping I would see more burn.
I'm now 2-1, playing for 2nd or 3rd place!!

Last round was against a 3-0 opponent getting paired down, I guess there were 3 floating around. They were playing a jeskai swans of bryn argoll deck. It looked ridiculous, but game one he drew a bunch of cards, cast a remand and a cryptic, and bolted my face twice, ended up winning. Saw snow covered lands and skred, wtf am I playing against?!
Well game 2 I side in the path's and the other Exquisite fire craft. He does
Nothing but serum visions his first to turns, while I go turn one bolt, turn 2 eidolon, turn three bolt, then another eidolon. I'm at 13, he is at 8. I have him where he can cast a spell unless it kills both creatures, cause my backswing will kill him. He scoops rather than showing me more cards, and we go to game 3.
I keep a hand of swiftspear x2, eidolon, 2 fetches, lava spike, atarka's command. Opponent mulligans to 6, then shocks in steam vents, cast serum visions. I fetch sacred foundry, play the nactyl I just drew. Next turn he lays a dying sheets, passes. I fetch stomping ground, play both swiftspear, swing 5. Opponent at 13, plays snow covered mountain, bolts nacatyl, passes. I got to combat, Cast atarka's command that he negates, I lava spike him to 10, the. Swing in to put him at 4. His turn he plays a land, casts his swan, and passes. He is tapped out so I don't care if he draws cards, I bolt him to one, cast eidolon, then swing for game

Big change is I want to sneak a 4th helix into the sb, and I want to find a slot for grim lavamancer, which can really help ping off creatures

Have you thought about running Forked Bolt? I think it would be a good substitute for your Eidolon. You can often use it to kill 2 early creatures for 1 red mana, and it should increase the damage output from your early creatures

When I was running mono red I had it, I don't think I'd want to run it in place of eidolon, but if they go to a 20 card sb I'll sneak all 4 in for soul sisters and affinity

Well, your Nacatl strategy definitely seems to have paid off! Congratulations! And thanks for providing the illustrative blow-by-blow, it's like a mini-tutorial in "this is why you play such-&-such", & therefore more instructive than just posting your results. Again, congrats!

Very nice deck Zak! Glad you're doing well with it (if you hadn't, that ugandaporno guy would be taunting you). Any room for mutagenic growth as a game ender? Since you're running burn, I'm sure you'd have 2 spare life to bring em to zero.
Sideboard seems pretty solid too, especially since you're running naya.
So sorry to advertise, but i could use a fellow Modern player's help: http://www.mtgvault.com/tleung84633/decks/do-the-impossible/
Thanks in advance man, and good luck in the next FNM. Hope you're as excited about BFZ as I am. =)
