It seems my definition of budget is quite different from a lot of members on here, but my goal with the next couple of decks I post will be to build competitive modern decks under $100. Not expecting them to win PTQ's, but simply be a gateway for new players to start getting in to modern. Everywhere I play one of the problems seems to be getting players into modern, due to price or the meta's learning curve, they seem to stick to standard. I want to post 4-5 beginning decks under $100 for starter modern Decks.
Use isochron scepter to repeated use fog effects, then use draw effects and the grindclocks to deck out your opponents.

How is this not budget for modern?
It is budget... Read a description
http://www.mtgvault.com/viagrasaurusrex/decks/806119/ I mean I feel its more budget than this version right here...
I like yours more:)The sideboard on this one is just for cards a new player would start saving for
I was just seeing what it would look like in a non budget shell:P built it in like 2 min. I feel the deck is super weak to burn/combo/discard with out the leylines/ angel's grave. I also picked remand over mana leak because its better late game and when with scepter it draws you a card. Glad you like it:)
Yes I had to cut some goodies(like snapcasters) to keep it under $100 not as easy as you would think to be competitive under that
I'm never hard on people who build budget builds, but i will happily defend them when someone says something like "that's not budget" I mean if you had 500$ to make a deck technecally your budget is 500$ so every single deck ever made could be a budget deck:P You clearly stated yours was 100$ Just trying to help a brother out.
Thanks man. My budget is much higher, but I want to help some newer players into the format
I am a huge fan of modern and a huge fan of fringe decks. So feel free to ask for help if you come up with any ideas:P I have a pretty good card base knowledge.
His username is "money man"... how is <$100 not budget?...Like, I make a deck and I'm like, "sweet, only 400 bucks, totally buying this". People just need to accept that Magic is an expensive hobby, and by refusing to acknowledge that they only hurt themselves by purposefully weakening their decks when they shave the expensive staples.
Lol yeathe challenge they are doing now is " decks under $6"....obviously not competitive, but hey I guess there are a lot of casual players here... I am specifically making this series of decks to be beginner competitive decks for someone who can drop at least $100 now, hen plans to put at least $50 a week into it
Made some slight changes after play testing, went to jace, memory adepts, added more counterspells
You've left out my absolute favourite 'fog': Ethereal Haze :P
didnt even know that one existed, ill be making room for it!
Great idea for casual players who want to take their game to the next level. I really hope those people find this series of decks. +1.
Man the value on this one has tripled almost since it was originally made
