A twist on the black devotion deck. This uses the touch of blue to help get around tough to deal with threats like enchantments, gods, blood baron, and fiendslayer. Duskmantle adds in another win condition.
Use your disruption and removal to control the early game and then drop one of your finishers. Ashiok can be great against more aggressive decks and seer does work. Use the life gain provided by whip and gary to counter act the loss of life from seer.

I love Duskmantle Seer, kudos to you for building a deck with him in it! I have yet to have a successful build with him yet however, the main problem being having to many high costed spells killing me more than my opponent (I've even killed my own Seer to stay alive). The only suggestions I can give would be to drop AEtherize and bumping up Hero's Downfall, I know AEtherize is powerful but taking a few big blasts in the face from a possibly turned CMC 4+ can spell a certain death, but I have never had life gain with Seer so this idea seems legit! If you get a chance check out my deck; it is a control build but hard to deal with once running... Duskweaver

Yeah...aetherize is kinda my poor mans out right now. Gotta track down another pair of the downfalls. Thanks for the encouragement! I have found that the life gain in the deck does help to keep up with the seer's effect and I also have been toying with trying to fit in some more scry effects as well.
1 card for scry says it all Thassa, God of the Sea, run 3 Thassa, and 3 Seer trust me you will enjoy it as much as I have
Aetherize is cool, but I think Cyclonic Rift might be better. Not sure though. I've always liked Aetherize. This looks really fun to play.Leave feedback on my new take on RDW if you can: http://www.mtgvault.com/thelogician/decks/rdw-impostor/
Good Call. Saw this just before the tournament and made the change...so worth it.
Successful first tournament. Undefeated 5-0!The above (now somewhat changed list) is what I played.
Nice dude! What were the other decks like? I'm sure people were like "what is this deck doing??"
Well...Let me just tell you about my opponents. (5 rounds of swiss, then top 4 to top 2 for prizes)Round #1: Seleysnia Aggro 2-0Round#2: Mono Red Devotion 2-0Round #3: Mono Blue Devotion 2-0Round #4: Mono Black Devotion 2-0Round #5: Orzhov Aggro 2-0Semi Finals: U/W Control 2-0Finals: Mono Black Devotion 2-0Of the crowd, most were blue or black devotion with a few U/W or Esper control and then some less popular builds (this portion was actually most of the field but there was no real consistancy to what was being played other than what I mentioned.) as well. My build is really similar to the Mono Black deck, but the ability to deal with blood barons more efficiently and being able to kill their specters pre board really did the trick. To be fair, the field was a little thin due to the holidays but I think it will hold up in a regular size event too.
Man that is awesome to hear! I gives me hope for my build, although your looks far more threatening than mine does.
