an eldrazi conscription would be pretty sweet too, just hope you don't draw it...

I second the stoneforge mystic suggestion, that is a great card for this deck.

not sure what quietus spike does in this deck...Attrition is critical for a deck like this. Probably could use Braids, Bone shredder (sac it before you have to pay echo), and Gatekeeper of Malakir. This is one of my favorite deck themes, love to see another deck like it.

Took out both elves, goo, liege, singles of dark tutelage and putrid leech. Added bloodghast, child of night, death's shadow, bad moon.

Optimal turn sequence: Turn 1 swamp cultist, Turn 2 swamp confidant, Turn 3 forest rancor on child of night. Then the child of night will buy you time to get more card draws and a bad moon or two.

@Oculus: yea, this deck basically has to win in 5-6 turns or it kills itself. Refuge lands are a good idea, but the colors aren't quite right. I think I will add child of night and take out the goo, which probably won't get to kill much of anything.

@Irrelevant: haven't seen that one before, a definite add. Thanks!

thanks, that makes sense to not have 4 copies and use extra land.

you should run day of judgments, since your creatures (except sun titan) are indestructible with the knight exemplar. Caravan escort isn't that good either when compared to student of warfare, instead have kazandu blademaster. Otherwise a nice deck, probably would have cloud crusader as a sideboard for flying.

thanks for the comment. yea I think Urza's armor is too expensive to work well. It would be nice to redirect the damage being dealt to me rather than absorbing it with pro-black creatures + Pariah (Vengeful Archon comes to mind). Hedron-Field Purists is great for this deck, but as I don't own many cards since the Mirrodin block, I can't use it.

Excellent deck idea, I would remove Betrayal of Flesh (too expensive) and Hallow (doesn't work with Reanimate because life loss is not damage) and add Exhume (whatever they bring back will die from annihilator) and Bone Shredder (let it die and resurrect as needed). Then, sub Zombify in for Breath of Life and you can adjust the lands to more swamps.

Sideboard will need creatures for particular decks (practically any mythic rare like Eldrazi, Iona, etc.) and some Day of Judgments.

Have played on and off for ten years, though I am preparing to sell/store my cards in preparation for medical school. Anyway, this deck is an old favorite Pestilence deck that my brother refused to play against a long time ago. My actual deck is only 40 cards and much weaker, but it still works just fine for casual play. I also have a fun bird deck, so check it out.

fyi, brave the elements would not protect your creatures from day of judgment.

I recommend adding Forbidden Orchard to guarantee that your opponent has more creatures than you. This is especially important if your opponent is playing a creatureless or nearly creatureless deck. Otherwise, a great deck idea.

May I suggest pious kitsune instead of ancestor's prophet? It allows you to tap fewer clerics, and the life gain becomes unstoppable after enough turns. You would need to add another Eight-and-a-Half-Tails to complement. Also, one life per turn from recumbent bliss is nice, but faith's fetters is a better all-around stopper. Lastly, Mother of Runes is one of my favorite clerics to use in any deck of this type.
