- better curve and added 5x tutors to go with 5x draw sources.-trimmed to the best temple targets.-changed my budget to allow thassa; cannot have a deep sea deck without the god of the sea (you can also search for her with zur and activate the unblockable trigger before the defending player declares blockers)-added winds of abandon as a hybrid single/board removal.-discovered Legacy's allure! really cheeky way to use zur after a few good triggers.
This is the only possible quest for ula's temple deck. don't believe me? search for a legendary creature with blue that can search for quest for ula's temple. go ahead. did you do it? nice. what you find?Zur. He's well maligned and for good reason.however we gonna use him to find the real commander: Quest for ula's temple. The downside is that the creature count is stinky. oh no!Here's the best order for Zur targets:1. Quest for Ula's Temple2. Soothsaying / Search for Azcanta / Haunted CrossroadsThese can be in either order; the Soothsaying is vital to stacking the deck so you can float creatures to the top of the deck and get your quest counters.Search for Azcanta is only one card a turn but you can still pitch anything that isn't a creature.Haunted crossroads is good if you have a creature in the graveyard as, besides getting it back, you put it on top for a guaranteed quest counter. You can also let Zur hit the graveyard and put it on top to recur again and again.Once you have the Quest combo setup you can be more reactive to the game state. the three major branches are Card Draw, Control or Voltron.Card Draw:1. Arguel's Blood-Fast: Cheap, effective and instant speed mana sink. Also the flip side is really good with your giant crazy sea beasties.2. Unifying Theory: This is a more friendly version of Rhystic Studies. 3. Spreading Seas / Curator's Ward / Fate Foretold: One-off draw with perks. Islandwalk for spreading seas and cards when zur dies with the others.Control:1. Grasp of Fate / Imprisoned in the Moon: Oblivion Ring but for each opponent (Grasp) and any permanent, even indestructable (Imprisoned). Either hits before blockers are declared.2. Propaganda / Callaphe: Pillow fort tax for attackers/removal, respectively. Voltron:1. Thassa, God of the Sea: Thassa is a house of a card to tutor into play period. Card advantage of course but perhaps more importantly you can activate her unblockable ability before they declare blockers, that turn.2. Felidar Umbra / Haunted Crossroads: Recursion and protection to allow you to keep pounding on with zur.3. Curator's Ward / Fate Foretold: protection and advantages to zur dying.
