Definitely adding in that High Priest, thanks tom haha
Just some card ideas for you.Rootborn DefensesAjani's Sunstriker
some pretty terrible ideas, no offense. Nyp Gwyillion is sideboarded, so no need for Ajani, and rootborn defenses seems pretty useless in here as well. its best use would be for defense, and in that situation you would have to know destruction was coming and have three mana untapped to do anything about it.
Actually I think the more lifelink the better. For one thing, lifelink depends on a creatures power so any deck that makes creatures stronger works well with lifelink. But wait, in addition to the fact that exalted and lifelink go together like cheese and crackers, they actually help each other defeat the opponents that they couldn't face alone. Exalted is weak against burn decks which make short work of all the 1/1 creatures on the field. However, any life gain works very well against burn. That being said, it doesn't help if all your creatures with lifelink are 1/1 creatures that die just as fast. Also, lifelink makes it so you don't have to block nearly as much because you gain back the life you lost when you attacked with a 4/4. This is great considering that exalted cards are very weak blockers. Ajani's Sunstriker fills this role perfectly because it's not a 1/1and it's only 2 mana. Truth be told, you rarely find a creature with lifelink that has power and toughness equal to it's mana cost.As for Rootborn, yes I understand that it requires three mana to cast. However, the idea is that once you get a Sublime Archangel and a few creatures on the field, you kind of have the game in the bag. The only Question is "can you keep them there".
Excellent points. My flaw with Ajani is not its cost, its its mana color. 2 whites are needed. my fear is that its going to sit in hand, past round 2, and be past its own uses, where I would much rather play another exalted creature, or High Priest of Penance. Personally I think he should be running 4 of the High Priests, seeing its offense is just as good as its defense. As far as indestructible goes, I like the idea, but for sublime to be out on the field, which can only happen as early as turn 4, I think most burn decks wouldn't wait until turn 5 to start killing off all the 1/1s. And when playing with this deck, you don't want to skip turn 3 just to maybe cast it if they decide to burn your creatures. A simple electrickery is this decks worst nightmare. I think Rootborn is too costly to be of any use, seeing as the early game is the hardest thing for exalted to deal with. Burrenton Forge-Tender is a solid defense for burn decks and can help you early and late game. while he is not exalted, I think he might be worth sideboarding. as for anything considered combat damage, I would run Dawn Charm, its versatile and cheap. It wouldn't be a bad idea to throw some Righteousness in the deck too for when your opponent is swinging early with 3/3s or 5/5s, turn that little 1/1 into an 8/8 for one mana.
That is understandable. Actually I think you're right about High priest of penance. There really should be 4 of him in this deck. However, I would like to point out that getting two white mana would be easier than getting one white and one black mana with the current land set up. Here is what I'm thinking. I think that even though he should stay a black white deck so he can run cards of each color, he should focus a little more on the white side than the black. If he was trying to stay standard it would be a different story. But since he's not, it opens up a world full of possibilities. As you said before, Electrickery is this decks worst nightmare. This is a perfect reason to have creatures with more than a toughness of one. So here is a deck setup that is forming in my head right now. Tell me what you think of it.CREATURE 4 Akrasan Squire 4 Aven Squire 4 Knight of Glory 4 Sigiled Paladin 4 Knight of Meadowgrain 4 Sublime Archangel 4 Silverblade Paladin 4 High Priest of Penance INSTANT4 Faith's Shield SORCERY4 Essence HarvestLAND4 Fetid Heath4 Godless Shrine / Orzhov Guildgate 12 PlainsSIDEBOARD4 Righteousness4 Knight of Infamy4 Burrenton Forge-Tender4 Oblivion RingOK so here's my logic. First I put in a few more creatures as they're the foundation of an exalted deck(lots of creatures). Next I tried to put in a few more creatures with more than 1 toughness because 2/3 of the creatures had 1 toughness. Now only half do. After that I tried to condense the strategy by putting in 4 of every card instead of 2 or three. Last I tried to be more white based. As you can see every land has white as a possible mana choice. I think this will be more effective because I currently have the same chance of drawing a land with black mana as I do a spell with a black mana cost. Now before you disagree with me for taking out all of the beautiful black cards, realize that focusing on one color more than another is the best way for dual colored decks to use their cards to the fullest. The best way to explain this reasoning is by comparing choosing a color in MTG to choosing a major in college. You're supposed to choose one Major and then one Minor that helps you do better with your Major. However, if you choose two Majors, you risk overwhelming yourself and ultimately failing in both.
couldn't agree more, he has too much of too little going on all at once and it needs to be condensed. I like your set up, and knight of meadowgrain is awesome. I would however still run the Quietus Spike, its too good in an exalted deck. Maybe run Tormented soul instead of Aven Squire. But I like the focus on the white cards, while still keeping black in all the right areas. xtitan is a buddy of mine that I play cards with all the time, and ive been trying to get him to condense this deck for awhile now. Simpler is always better, less card choices, but a more stable structure and a defined game plan. Needs to lose the little bit of this, and the little bit of that, that is in this deck. Good work on the deck set up :p
Thank you; admittedly I would have liked to add more life gain to this deck but I think that how it turned out works much better.
