Deck Description

So one of the most painful moments when playing counter spell is saving that two mana only to have your opponent play nothing worth countering and you could've used that mana to play something else. This deck lets no mana go to waste even if there was nothing to counter.

How to Play

Isochron Scepter is the bread and Ludevic's Test Subject is the butter. Imprint Counterspell/Into the Roil onto Isochron Scepter. Get Isochron out asap and from turn 3 and forward always leave two mana to use it. With Counterspell/Into the Roil available every turn, this game should easily be dragged out. When there is nothing to counterspell, you can throw that two mana onto Ludevic's Test Subject. Other option is using Powerstone and Azure Mage/Kick Into the Roil to draw a card. So bounce/counterspell till you can get out Ludevic's Abomination, Guile, or perhaps you've already been building an army with Talrand, Sky Summoner.

Deck discussion for Never Waste Mana Counterspells

This is a great deck, I really love the idea behind it. I wonder if something like Springlead Drum would also be a nice addition as it'd give you an extra mana and most of your creatures (I assume) you wouldn't be attacking/ blocking with. Also, would the addition of some walls, perhaps Wall of Frost, be advantageous? As most of the creatures with the exception of Guile and Ludevic's Test Subject are fairly weak the walls may help you soak up any attacks your opponent makes until you can get the cards you want.

Ah I like both suggestions. A wall would be nice, however I think I'm going to go with Fog Bank as it covers flying, prevents lifelink (and many other combat dmg effects), and is 1 mana cheaper. Springleaf Drum is great, so I can put ludevic's test subject, Azure mage, Fog Bank and Talrand Sky summoner's lazy butts to work. Thanks!

Cool deck! Like the use of Ludevic!
Why standstill though? Not judging, just curious.
Well done!

Thank you! I choose standstill because It's great card draw, and possibly a delay of game if opponent doesn't have any threats on the board because late game is your game.

Nice deck! I think the concept is 9/10 for originality. I'd give you 10/10 but no one is perfect. My suggestion might be to splash some green for more mana ramp?

I considered it but couldn't seem to come up with anything good.
