Deck Description

Modern vampire aggro deck I have been working on, the previous version used bloodthrone and viscera seer in the main deck with more kill spells. I think this version will work very fast to overwhelm the opponent for a quick kill. Any suggestion to make this better always welcomed!

Deck discussion for Modern Vampire Aggro

Looking for suggestions to make this deck more competitive, I would like to enter a Modern tourney with it one day.

Your vampire deck is similar to mine except that my deck is not an aggro deck. I would focus your deck a little more on making your opponent lose life and you gaining life. You can still have it it as an aggro deck. I would get rid of Lavaclaw Reaches for it does not fit the deck. I would also swap out your instant cards for sorceries, or other instant cards that cause your opponent lose life, which in turn causes you gain that much life. They cost a little more to play them, but I think they would benefit this deck more. Maybe even add some mana boosting cards to help get more of your creatures out faster for the aggro aspect of the deck to work out better. I just searched a bunch of these card types I just mentioned, but I didn't want to list any of them because I want you to be able to decide for yourself what cards to add or not add. Goodluck getting into a tourney!! : ) I hope you do well.

you can defiantly go the life gain route with vamps and my first rendition of this deck focused on that theory. the problem I found is it was too slow, the plan here is to win in 4-5 turns max to have a chance. lava claw is just a placeholder for blood crypt I try to get them cheaper on eBay due to cost

I'll check your decks out thanks for the comment

Some changes I would do:
Reduce "Kalastria Highborn" by 2-4 and add either "Blade of the Bloodchief" or "Blood Artist". The drawback on Kalastria is, that you always have to keep one ore more {B} free to be able to pay for the effect, which might slow your play.
Reduce "Pulse Tracker" by 2-4 and add "Guul Draz Vampire". Normaly a card that I woudn't play in a vampire deck, but if you manage to play fast enough, they can be a real pain in the ass.
Change from "Ultimate Price" to "Terminate". You don't have target restrictions, and the target can't be regenerated.
Change from "Magma Jet" to "Read the Bones" or "Sign in Blood". I think that this deck will need some carddraw as your hand will be empty pretty fast. Advantage of "Sign in Blood" is that it can be used as finisher (2 damage), "Read the bones" digs deeper.
Maybe add 4 more duallands, to make shure you are able to cast 1-X red spells when you want to.

Some further suggestions
Madcap Skills ({1}{R}; enchantment; Enchanted creature gets +3/+0 and can't be blocked except by two or more creatures)
Tragic Slip ({B}; target creature gets -1/-1, Morbid: Target creature gets -13/-13)
Bump in the Night ({B}; Flashback {5}{R}; Target opponent loses 3 life.)...black alternative to "Lightning Bolt", but player only
Vampire Nighthawk ({1}{B}{B}; 2/3; Flying; Deathtouch; Lifelink)...maybe an alternative for
Evil Presence ({B}; target land becomes a swamp)...sideboard-material, can really mess up your opponents mana-base

My own B/R vampire deck: http://www.mtgvault.com/muktol/decks/br-tribal-vampire/

not sold on guul vamp vs pulse tracker early game his -1 goes through even if he dies and I have had many hands with multiple copies bring my opponent down quickly, although I do like the intimidate I'll play test to see which works best
defiantly will switch magma jet with sign in blood I do find myself top decking a lot and never thought to use it as a finisher good call!
terminate could be a good fit for the deck with less restrictions, what do you think of devour flesh in that spot? could go with the theme, it's a black card for vamp nocturnous , and with gatekeeper the deck would give me 6 times I can make them sac a creature negating hexproof, shroud, ect
kalistra has won me so many games I don't know if I want to make the switch, I usually can get a ton of vamps out in the first few turns that I don't find myself missing the mana that often. plus with the sac of blood ghast / evolving wilds I'm able to ping my opponent multiple times in one turn which is super effective

Try a 2/2 spit between "Pulse Tracker" and "Guul Draz Vampire", should give you some options to attack and some very cheap finishers.
I think it will depend on how good the carddraw will work, if you stay with "Kalastria Highborn". If you get enough cards in your hand, you have many options to play, but will need the mana for those.
"Devour Flesh" (and also "Gatekeeper of Malakir") depends on the deck you're plaing against. Goblins? Humans? Tokens? Creatureless? What does 1 creature more ore less mean. Green? Angels? That will hurt. Personally I would try a split between point-removal and sacrificing effects and maybe sideboard the other card.
I made the experience that either you get a bunch of vampires out and win the game regardless of your big finishers, or your opponent removes to many of your vamps, or just hinders your play (Counterspells, "Propaganda" or "Ensnaring Bridge" (That was one horrible game...))

another option could be getting my vamps back out of the grave but I think that would slow everything down . maybe some mass removal in the sideboard depending on the match up. dark ritual could be an option for some quick free mana but don't know what I would remove for it

Forget resurrection-spells in aggro, you need the slot for...aggro ;). An option could be hexproof equipment, if you're up against decks with many removals.
Personally i don't like "Dark Ritual", but thats because I built an play my decks under modern restrictions, and don't like to see that a deck, which would be modern legal, messes this up with a single (though good) card.
If you want mass removal, take a look at "Electrickery".

I like feast of blood over terminate in this ( or any vamp) deck. Two mana destroy target creature, gain four life. Sure you gotta have two vamps to cast it but more than likely if you don't have two vamps out by time you need to use it, game isn't going your way anyways.

Also trying to stick with the aggro theme, there's an artifact called blade of the blood chief or something like that. Equipped vamp gets 2 +1/+1 counters whenever a creature is put into a graveyard. One to cast one to equip.

Good way to keep people focused away from the vamps you don't want removed.

Going to try blade over Olivia while she is an awesome card her cost and mana restrictions make the deck slow down and the point is to win quickly will play test. Also went suffer springs over blood crypt due to rising cost of blood crypt and will still do the job
