Deck Description

This was many months ago just a silly little type 2 deck that I decided to build because I wanted to have something to play with in type 2 (I only build legacy). After I stopped having fun with it I decided to see if building a legacy equipment deck was possible and looked high and low for the best equipments. Originally I just had 1 sword but when I saw how well they all worked together I decided to collect exactly 1 of every sword, had to add the Jitte, and when Batterskull came out lets just say I creamed my pants. Shortly after this I found out that with double strike your swords ability is doubled along with the damage given out. Building on this and a few other game mechanics I believe I have built what I call a "swiss army knife" deck.

Zero drops are the key to your first turns. They are free, they can defend you, but most importantly they are artifacts and getting metalcraft as quick as you can is key. A really great turn 1 is 0 drop creature, Opal, Ancient Den. That means with three things on the field you have paid nothing, have metal craft, and have 2 mana to use turn 1. With a deck this fast a start like that can win you a game right away.

Now for the creatures. Duelist is a 1 drop, Edgewright/Pally/Mystic are 2, and Mentor is 3. Duelist is your work horse, get him equipped quick and he is going to hit your opponent hard and fast. Mystic and Pally are your equipment engine, fetch them and play them with Mystic then equip them for FREE with Pally (by the way you get to draw a card for the other equipments that come in after Pally is in play already metalcraft or no). Edgewright is another D strike to get your bonus for the swords (or the Jitte, 4 counters per swing if you have double) and Mentor ties it all together since you need some specific stuff it adds more of a draw engine to the deck.

Fetch for whatever you need the most. All the swords have two types of color hate and cover every color so you should think of that first. If color hate is not necessary I like going for the Jitte (the best equip in the game) and Sword of Fire and Ice which accelerates you and helps you burn your opponent. Light and Shadow heals you while it brings creatures back from the graveyard also Body and Mind gives you 2/2 wolves and mills your opponent for 10. Feast and Famine forces your opponent to discard and untaps your land (combo that with the draw card from Fire and Ice or Mentor). War and Peace can win games by itself believe me and most likely the scariest equipment in this deck has to be Batterskull which when played with stoneforge can get you a 4/4 vigilance lifelink turn 3... Think about that for a second. You may even find yourself equipping the germ token with some swords.

With metalcraft you might as well put dispatch and mox opal in. Dispatch is easily the most powerful exile spell in the game and the opal is a great mana bump that can go into effect turn 1, itself being an artifact all you need is 2 zero drops. Naturally Ancient Den is another thing that can get you to metal craft that much more quickly, a good looking first turn might be: Ancient den, Ornithopter, Mox Opal, and play Kor Duelist or even Auriok who will already have double strike at that point. The two bonus equipments are in there just for a little bit more of a wild card. Trepenation blade can close an opponent out if things go right and regardless you are milling your opponent. Then there is Lightning Greaves and you will need this big time to protect your valuable assets early on.

The lands are simple. Ancient Den is a metal craft helper. Opal is as well and can give you a great early game boost. Buried Ruin is more equipment rescue. Inkmoth nexus can help if your down a creature and can give you metal craft for 1 if you are short an artifact. And my one spell Dispatch is a white exile card with no drawback, I like that.

The sideboard is finally done... I think. Heartseeker is for those people who plan on winning with just one creature or for that one creature you just cant stand (fun combo with Pally). Manriki was a necessity since I was doing this deck way before anyone else saw the value of big equipments I didn't have to defend against, well, myself essentially. Now that Bant Blade and all the other blade formats are popular I need to defend that. Pariah's Shield is a bet aginst direct damage and big outflanking zoo decks. Worldslayer is a big bet against zoo decks or decks that end up with very large boards in general. We have Mine Excavation and Remember the Fallen for those removal lovers. Finally the creatures are just extra color hate when you know you will need it.

Deck discussion for White Boys - Swiss Army Knife

You should really consider Armament Master and Stoneforge Mystic.

Mystic is in there, and armament master is nice and all but Auriok Steelshaper has the master ability AND makes equips 1 less. With 2 on the field I equip for free, now that is scary!

Omg, I did see your Mystics, how embarrassing;) Good point on Armament, I did see why you included Glint Hawk, since it's not a Kor Soldier, but hey you got enough artifact in here, so it works. I still think the extra boost from Armament is nothing to neglect. Remember, each equipment attached to it gives +2/+2 to every other Kor. I just like the idea of having an army of 10/10 Kor Soldiers. But that's just me;)

A scary thought and during my type 2 phase in this deck he was in there but for some reason I remember that I could not seem to get him going soon enough but now that the deck has an increased speed and purpose I may just add 2 of them in to see what happens. I will axe two of the cat guys perhaps.

I tried running armament master and I don't know why I just don't like him. Perhaps if there were more Kor in there the deck would benefit more. I am thinking however that I can axe 2 cats for 2 steelshaper's gift which is a 1 drop fetch sorcery for any equipment. I think with quest, mystic, and 2 of those I will have a very nice balance of fetch and kill.
