First this, is a deck I actually have and play with. Its main purpose is to be fun. And what's more fun than a 4/4 indestructible hexproof monster...?? How bout a 7/7 flying indestructible hexproof lifelink and vigilance monster, courtesy of Ajani and a few other nifty neato cards that I think help Fleece Mane Lion do his thing even more. Secondly, I've always loved green white combinations. And when Ajani mentor of heroes came out, I was immediately sold. That and at the time I thought fleece man was being a bit underused... after all I bought a play set for about maybe 8 bucks?
The goal is to activate fleecemane as quickly as possible and then start giving him some of those nifty neato abilities. So Ideally, your draw hand would look something like this, 2forest, 1Swamp, 2Pilgrims, 1Fleecemane, 1Ajani.T1-Forest>PilgrimT2-Forest>Pilgrim>FleecemaneT3-Swamp> Activate Fleecemane>Swing for 4T4-Play land>Ajani, Mentor of Heroes +1 to Fleece mane> Swing for 7.A lot of the time it wont play out like this, but between Ajanis ultimate, and the decks ability to gain life, you shouldn't be afraid to take a few hits early on. Also this deck utilizes plenty of removal. Use Hero's Downfall to take out creatures with protection from green or white (such as storm breath dragon) or even planeswalkers if necessary. You can use the abzan charm to make sure you aren't taking too much damage from any large creatures that manage to get out before you can activate fleece mane. And for any other pesky spells such as artifacts or enchanments you can always use banishing light. Once you have mounted a solid defense for Ajani, you can start sifting through your deck to find just the right cards you need to bring it all home.
