I don't particularly see the purpose for the white components with so few of them, but still a nice vampire deck.

Simply because a 3 cost destroy target permanent is just too good not to have, and in my opinion, batwing brume has the potential to be even better then a fog. Even if the opponent just attacks with 5 creatures, with the appropriate mana, you can prevent that damage, and make them lose 5 life. Then the cards themselves just go along with the theme of the deck.
