Deck Description

A deck using a bit of the Selesnya from RTR mixed with a dabble of innistrad to create an aggro deck built so you can dominate the field. The sideboard is for anti-control with geist trappers for anti-flying. I appreciate suggestions!

How to Play

this deck is built around early game big hitters, like a turn one mana dork turn two loxodon, turn three silverblade and rancor. one main combo is the obvious wolfir and silverblade, the standard of soulbond combo's. or of course as mentioned earlier turn three rancor on loxodon smiter that's soulbonded with silverblade. that's a turn three 6/4 with trample and double strike. though my favorite thing to do is pump up wild beastmaster with savagery and wolfir and just swing in. so basically this deck is meant to build fast and be relatively versatile when you need options. A good target for flashback increasing savagery is fencing ace. an 11/11 with doublestrike comes as a surprise to many. most of the time that's more of a late game thing.

Deck discussion for Selesyna Aggro

One suggestion here is Rancor. This deck kinda lacks trample and your wayfaring temple won't be able to
give you tokens that frequently.

yeah i'm doing a card swap at the next FNM and going to throw in
2 Boundless realms (sub out heroes reunion and centaur healer)
2 Dryad Militant (sub out 2 phantom generals)
2 Bountiful Harvest(sub out 2 vitu ghazi guildmage)
and also looking at maybe rancor and parallel lives. i just dont know what to sub out other than wayfaring and healer of the pride. any suggestions on that note?

Don't add bountiful harvest since trostani is already your healer. Add growing ranks so you can grow your army every turn and it goes well with parallel lives cuz it goes for 2 instead of 1. And add some threat removers like oblivion ring and more selesnya charm. Remove heroes reunion and healer of the pride, then add more wayfaring temple and add the Armada Wurm which gives you also a 5/5 wurm with trample for you to populate.

i already have two growing ranks and most games i get one. id like to get four parallel lives in there and another trostani plus some dryad militants. armada wurm is to expensive to cast. i do think more wayfaring temple is a good idea though. as for threat removers i think i will stick where i am with that. i already have four(five if you count sundering growth)

for a selesnia deck, you should add a Garruk Primal hunter because he is great for these kind of decks. token generator, and then potential overrun. check out mine when you have a chance

so some more experienced players attacked my deck at FNM this week and this is what their brainchild is for what my current budget and cards are. will be getting flash lands and thragtusks over time and also a couple of restoration angels but for now this is what it is. does pretty good for what it is i suppose. any other suggestions are welcome

just bought four temple gardens. so that knocks out flash lands. didnt want to degrade my regular mana lands even more so i subbed out the selesnya guildgates. good or bad idea?

ive got geist honored monks and collective blessing. but i was thinking about thragtusk. but armada wurm sounds good as well seeing as i lack trample

Thank you for the help in my Selesnya budget deck:

I would swap the Geist monk for Wayfaring temple, and add a couple of rancors to the mix so he can populate often.

Geist honored monk is for board wipes though, along with midnight haunting... the deck is very susceptible to board wipe cards. it helps me get back on my feet after a wipe

I think Rancor would give this deck a very strong aggro style in some games, and between the Monk, Temple, Smiter, and even atended knight, you have really good targets for it.

ill definately be getting a playset of rancor on friday!

Is there a reason for no thragtusk? You have good ramp plus it would bring 8 life with trostani on the field?

the only reason is that i havent had the money to buy a couple yet. this is my deck as it stands with what ive got

Have you considered Ajani, Caller of the Pride at all? His +1 isn't great, but if you could get his -8 off, that would be pretty awesome with the amount of life you're gaining.

Definately something im considering buying tonight. just dont know how much of use he would come in you know? the only useful ability is the -8 and the chances of the people i play with letting that bomb go off is slim and none. but its definately something to consider

What about Rhox Faithmender (M13/R/3W/ doubles any life you gain) or Healer of the Pride (M13/U/3W/gain 2 life when another critter comes into play). both are usefull. i run 2 of each in my Selesyna deck.

im thinking about faithmender but not healer of the pride, the more i look at it the more i think this deck is becoming aggro. it builds so quick and getting those loxodons off with rancor around turn 4-6 is just sick, so im not sure i want to change it to much. to call it life gain now seems odd because it only runs two life gain cards

You could even use 1-2 Thragtusk, extra life gain from it's ability + from Trostani and you get another body when it dies.

when i get some thragtusks i will. i could also populate the 3/3

For the sideboard I would suggest eyes of the skies instead of seller because you still get the bird but you can then populate any other token that you need. Also instead of Bountiful Harvest use Hero's Reunion, its only 2 mana and gets you 7 life every time

yeah, my entire SB needs a makeover. i havent changed it since i overhauled the deck...

My main suggestion would be to get ride of your collective blessings, for Wayfaring temple. It helps with the life gain like crazy

0

uhm, the whole deck would be rendered almost useless if i did that, geist honored monk is there in place of wayfaring because she is better in conjunction with collective blessing.... with collective blessing out and trostani i'm gaining at least 4 life for every creature. cast the monk and thats at least 15 health gained with just trostani and collective out. if anything im going to add Rhox Faithmender to double my life gains

I just thought of a great idea for this, 1-2 Ajani, Caller of the Pride... if you get his ultimate off you get a crapton of cat token's which will boost your lifegain even more.

yeah but thats only if trostani is out at the same time. i talked to a Gran Prix player and he said the best direction to move with this deck is aggro. silverblades, resto angels, and wolfirs

0

Yeah aggro is currently the big Selesnya deck so it is the better option.

The Ajani idea is just hilarious because of the looks people would give you when you do it.

i (obviously) decided to go the aggro route but decided to cut thraggy and opt out of the expensive resto angels. works pretty well. got 3rd at the last FNM
