The owner of this deck hasn't added a sideboard, they probably should...

Deck discussion for First Elf Deck(Legacy)

If you would like to block some flyer's I would suggest: Thornweald Archers. Also Overrun wouldn't be bad. If you would like you can take a look at my elf deck: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=175731 It may help you.

overrun is a great game-ender, I'll try to fit it in, thanks

Honestly, I'd use Ezuri, Renegade Leader instead of Overrun. With all the mana acceleration you have you could activate Ezuri's built in Overrun multiple times in one turn. I did this, after activating his ability enough times, I attacked with two 13/13 trampling Llanowar elves :p

Once, I attacked with 20 elves, and they were all in their 20's

correct me if im wrong, but a sixty card deck with 12 manna seems a little strange to me.

I'll agree, I have a hard enough time with 16 land, but the Llanowar Elves help.

12 mana is pretty standard for elves. They are very cheap and have a lot of mana abilities.

Although playing through I might need a couple more just for safety.

First thing, 4 Nettle Sentinel and 4 heritage druid is needed. Birchlore Rangers is good, elvish visionary is amazing. Quirion Ranger is pretty good, Regal Force gives you draw. Wirewood Symbiote is kinda needed in elves. 12 lands seems about right.

Those are all good cards, but I don't think any of them are that neccessary in an elf deck, and a lot of the other cards in there already are better. Draw would be very useful, but not enough to take out other interactions. Thanks for the suggestions.

Wow, so instead of literally playing your entire deck by like turn 3, you'd play this? Sure thing, but Nettle Sentinel/Heritage Druid is the HEART of Legacy Elves. Not playing them just is ridiculous.

There, I am only dissapointed that glimpse of nature is so expensive, because that would work well here! Thanks.

Without GoN should I even have nettle sentinel in there?

0

Yes, yes you should. If you can't afford Glimpse, Regal Force works.

What should I take out to put in either more mana or overrun?

If you go that route, I'd say Ezuri > Overrun. However, another great option is taunting elf--you basically don't need overrun in that case. Also, infiltration lens + taunting elf is all the card draw you need.

I'd also recommend Immaculate Magistrate--it'll make any of your creatures a threat, but combo'd with Joraga Warcaller, it ends games. It is better than Emrakul here, imo.

Lastly, I'd agree with all the people saying Wirewood Lodge. It makes all of your elves that tap literally twice as deadly.

For some other ideas, check out my elf deck @ http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=103549

There, I took out the unnecessary cards to add a couple of mana.

Priest of Titania with Seeker of Skybreak and/or Wirewood Lodge is a far better mana engine than the Sentinel/Druid combo. The Priest will also function on her own if for some reason you can't pull the other cards to make it work.

If you want some ridiculous mana with Arbor Elf, go with Elvish Guidance instead. Drops turn two with an arbor elf, and you're not hurting for mana for the rest of the game.

Hehe - Tribal Gaea's Cradle for the price of near-null, not too bad :)

Umbra Mantle and staff domination make infinite power + mana combo.

a combo i use is aluren + recycle gets your entire deck in play for free also staff of domination is great for elves and also elvish spirit guide its a elf spirit that you can exile from your hand for 1 green besides that if you have the money to spend get 4 glimpse of nature its a 1 green card that allows you to draw a card each to you play a creature for the turn then there's the wirewood symboite and elvish visionary combo i could keep going on and on with this so ill stop here lol anyway not to bad looking so far good luck with your elves sir

Well, Elvish guidance could be pretty nice. Also, Heritage Druid can get pretty crazy if you can find a way to keep drawing cards, and they work awesomely with Nettle Sentinel, so probably bump those up to 4 apiece.

I think you might want to take out arbor elf for green suns zenith so you can snag emrakul quickly

I say take out emrakul and add ezuri renegade leader, because honestly i dont like the giant elderazi cards. Plus getting 10- 10/10 elfs is wayy better than some random elderazi

Arbor Elf works well with Elvish Guidance, but other than that it is kind of pointless. I would suggest 4 Arbor and 4 Elvish Guidance while dropping some other mana-producers for more elf lords (elves that will boost your other elves), in a similar concept with my sliver deck: http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=202189 since both elves and slivers win by overwhelming.

and here we are once again, looking at the top tier magic players and deck builders for advice. God I'm such a noob :p this will probablly be deleted before anyone even reads it or gets to check it out, but if not, I'm relatively new to magic, (only a couple years under my belt, all casual play) and am looking for advice on my EDH deck, first of its kind :). I'm not sure which of these guys would make a really good commander/general guy, so i ask you, the kings and queens of the vault, would you please help?

thanks again!

Genesis Wave and Glimpse of Nature really pus Elf decks over the edge. Try play testing a bit with those cards, you won't be disappointed.

I'd also add Wirewood Lodge, Gaea's Cradle, and 4x Misty Rainforest. The Lodge's are a no brainer, your deck can literally function on one land, so thinning the lands will be beneficial to you over time. Feeding into a Genesis Wave with a Gaea's Cradle is just hilarious.

I'm just look around, and curious with your deck... using Emrakul, the Aeons Torn... with 15 forest I think its hard... Plus no instant or sorcery... > . <" try this one.... "Overwhelm" Play with Convoke mechanism. try to add "Jagged-Scar Archers" protect you from the sky. there is so many elf combo. like play with token elf... ^^

I don't understand why you are only using 15 mana and having NOTHING but creatures in this deck. I don't see it playing out very well.

For what it's worth, I think Emrakul is a pretty awesome addition to this. It's a fun and different way to play a legacy elf deck and having fun is what this game is all about, right? I do agree with throwing in wirewood lodge, it's cheap, would be really easy to fit in, and would really improve the deck.

I like the use of Wirewood Symbiote. I am considering adding him into my elf deck:

Here is mine:

I need to buy myself a playset of Glimpse of Nature.
Do you have any issues with the initial draw with such few lands?
