I'm mostly looking to build something fun with the new set. The deck revolves around Hapatra and nest of scarabs to flood the board, decimator beetle to shift counters, channeler initiate to have a good use for the counters, and Bontu to sac the scarabs and then go stomping. Any help or recommendations would be appreciated.
So this is going to be iteration number two. I dropped the festering mummys entirely. They never came up useful, I almost always would have preferred having any other card. From that removal I upped a crocodile of the crossing, the haste giving them a nice fat punch turn four. I upped a decimator beetle as the counter manipulation won me games, especially against anything that just plays smaller creatures. I upped the exemplar of strengths by 2, the life gain is great and then soak up a lot of the early removal. I dropped the blooming marshes to three. If I'm drawing enough to get to that third or fourth one they're just coming in tapped and I'd rather just have a basic at that point. This deck is actually much faster than I thought it would be. It's very easy to just start generating scarabs like crazy. If you can get out deathtouch snakes as well you're really starting to get an army of blockers and fodder for Bontu. Hapatra draws a lot of hate, especially if someone's seen this deck before so make sure to keep some mana open for the heroic interventions.Overall it's a fun budget deck that can be competitive if played right.
