Legacy mono-red storm

Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (8 cards)

Sorceries (8)

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

Inspired by Modern and Legacy storm decks, I decided to try a mono-red version that would be legacy-legal. (not necessarily legacy-competitive) In this deck, the Past in flames is somewhat akin to a Yawgmoth's Will, but I am unsure how it will play out. This deck is still in the theory stage.

Sideboard and mainboard suggestions very welcome. Any input to improve reliability and playability would be welcomed.

Considering adding Burning Wish, thoughts?

How to Play

Do everything possible to build a storm count and grapeshot? Else do enough damage with bolt variants and push the last damage through with the lavamancer.

Deck discussion for Legacy mono-red storm

Okay. Not sung the reason for the mountain search cards that could be more effectively be replaced by more mountains. Other than that seems like a reasonable burn deck.

Because I have no tutors for anything, and I'm so reliant on the draw to build a storm count, I figure that any amount of deckthinning I can get will be valuable, even if I do only pull a few cards out.

in the case of deck thinning giving up life seems like a hard way to do it especially in a format where people are slamming you around with a full life totals worth of damage on turns two and three. perhaps you could use evolving wilds which does the same thing without your life loss?

Yeah. He could replace both of the search lands with Terramorphic expanse and Evolving wilds, though with it being a mono colored deck, I don't know why he wouldn't just run 8 mountains instead.

-_- education time!

i thought the same way till someone explained it to me,so i pass on the info.

one main reason to use those lands he explained already, its simple deck thinning since red doesnt have too much of that anyways.
Two, when u use the expanse or wilds that mana u just grabbed is in play tapped. with messa and tarn its in play not tapped which when ur trying to storm in a mono red deck like this, that can be a very crucial land when it comes down to it.

I agree. The more I've been thinking about it, the harder it is to justify not running U/R. With blue, it also opens up cunning wish, so I could keep a win con in the sideboard.

Thanks for the insight, great comment.

i like the deck but i think u should update it. if i remember right they just banned seething song.... sad face... but if u took the above advice, u can splash blue for some more draw power and snapcaster to keep using some of the spells subbing in for the seething songs.

Seething Song is banned in Modern. This is Legacy.

If I do remake it, it'll be under a different name. I'm keeping this one as my monored version. If I splash blue, it'll just turn in to a High Tide deck. Nuttin' wrong with that, but I see no reason to change the deck name, and 75% of the cards. I'd rather just remake it.
