I really like your adaptation of this deck. If I had the money to splurge on Geist of Saint Traft, (and nonbasic lands) I would definitely put this together.

just to let you know, you have 6 rancor in your deck...Otherwise looks good to me.
Thanks, I'll do that
Looks powerful! I don't know if the mana curve would become a problem at all, but maybe more 2 drops would be useful. Otherwise, good deck. Check out mine http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=373618 http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=378319
sideboard some big white creatures like sunblast angel in case your opponent sideboards in enchantment removal against luminarch ascension. I know mine excavation can help, but you should have another powerful option. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=373618 http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=378319
The Goblin Grenades also do the trick, lol.
Thanks for the suggestions. I was trying to avoid runechanter's pikes in this particular deck, which is why I went with trepenation blade, which mills my opponent and is effective no matter how many instants and sorceries are in my graveyard. In terms of lands, my only concern is not having enough sulfur falls and then falling short on mana for spells like talrand's invocation or magmaquake. I'd need to play the deck a few times to be certain it would work.
The one problem I always find with griffins, is that none of them power each other up, so they remain relatively weak for their mana cost. I would possibly look at adding a splash of blue and putting in favorable winds. Another possibility could be throwing in Adaptive Automaton. You can turn him into a griffin and give the others a boost. 27 lands also tends to be a lot. Your spells aren't too expensive, so I would cut down to 24 at the most, or else you'll draw lands too often, and you won't get enough griffins to beat your opponent. Otherwise, I like the deck idea. I've always wanted to create one for myself but never got the chance. Check out mine? http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=373618
I cut the deck down to sixty cards and removed the large demons. removed the barter in bloods and put in brimstone volley.
do you have any recommendations that fit the theme. I was looking at brimstone volley and rage thrower, but rage thrower is too expensive. Perhaps a devil of some sort?
Diabolic tutors seem a little unnecessary. Perhaps you could hang onto two and just add some burn spells or other removal.
I've never been a big fan of elite inquisitor, but a card you may want to look at would be goldnight commander. I have a deck that combos it with thatcher revolt, and it get's pretty powerful, though I know you aren't using noncreature spells. Look at mine please. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=353727
You should add Kessig Wolf Run, otherwise, good deck. Check out mine, please. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=353727
Ghostform's a nice one to make several creatures unblockable. and crossway vampire can stop a blocker and is a 3/2 for 1RR. Look at mine, please. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=353727
check out mine please. http://www.mtgvault.com/ViewDeck.aspx?DeckID=353727
Nice deck. Consider adding more token making spells. hero of Bladehold is a good one, and intangible virtues are pretty neat. In my opinion gavony ironwright aren't as useful, since fateful hour only comes up every once in a while
Teetering peaks is nice for the little boost
Lol, nice deck. I've got a W/U/R that includes vent sentinel. Harmless Assault is another fun one if you give your creatures power. Hold the line is fun too.
careful with goblin assault, you may lose goblins faster than you get them if you force them to attack each turn. You're also gonna want trample in your deck, or a few lures.
Awakening zone, howl of the night pack, and other token spells are a must. The more you can devour, the better.
