Deck discussion for B/R 8-rack Modern.

I would cut down on the Raven's Crime a bit to fit in some Smallpox, the card is just insane for Rack decks.

Smallpox is only good/ok when you run waste not.
Also if you're requesting to cut raven's crime you haven't played with it much...
It's a soft lock with dakmor and makes all those useless land draw late game have purpose.

Small pox just doesn't do enough until turn 3-4 which is where you want to be slamming a bridge/lilly.
It's a fine card, just in most match ups I would rather be doing something better.

I play LoamPox in legacy, and before Mono Black Pox, I know my disruption lol.

I just find having access to a card that kills a threat, slows down a player with land destruction, and causes discard ontop of it seems very powerful to me.

But perhaps you are right, 8 Rack is pretty different then a Mono B Pox deck, same kinda concepts, but different sorta end game/long game strategy.

yeah, smallpox is a bit different in legacy...

In modern out worst match ups are:
Affinity
Infect
Boggles
G/R tron

Basically fast starts are the hardest, yes they're managable, but still the worst match up.
Small pox is also kinda awkward vs any deck that plays vial...

Infect isn't nearly as bad as boggles due to bolt, lucky for me niether of those see much play at my LGS.(maybe 1 infect deck out of 30+)

My meta is:
Fish(50/50)
U-tron(50/50 match up)
1 R/G tron(10/90 match up :( )
PoD(R.I.P. was a 40/60 match up, angel pod was about 50/50. these 6 players I have no idea where they will go, I assume most will go B/Gx as it shares a lot of cards with PoD.)
Twin(easy)
UWR control and midrange (easy)
delver(easy)
storm(easy)
ad naus(easy)
Dredgevine(50/50 easier post board)
BGx(45/55 ish)
Affinity(only 1 player and he isn't the best)
Burn(easy post board)
Random other budget decks.

Any blue based deck or combo is an auto win.
Burn is also simple, 50/50 pre-board much better post.)

I feel Smallpox does help make the Match ups with Boggles and Infect easier, as they like having less lands and one major threat.

So maybe not Mainboard, but it could find a home in the Side.

I would play it, but I honestly have only seen boggles and infect once... the guys that had them don't show up each week either.
Also they both have other decks.

Then I guess that'll do.

Liliana kind of helps in that kind of match up anyways due to the edict effect.

The only thing is with lilly you kinda need to have stay alive till turn 3.
Thats a lot hard to do vs infect.
Boggles its more realistic, but you can also beat boggles with an early bridge because they use enchantments instead of instants/sorcerys

yeah infect is pretty damn hard to survive against if its built right. i run B/G infect and it usually kills by turn 3, or turn 2 if im really lucky

You basically have to hope to have removal in hand... at least with boggles you can drop a lilly or bridge and be fine.
infect is normally a 2-3 turn clock without removal.
I can generally outlast the elfs, its the inkmoths that are annoying lol.
