Quite like this deck actually. Seems fun to play with. A couple of thoughts on my end though.I'd perhaps replace the Butcher Ghoul's with Reassembling Skeletons. Both seem to act as sac fodder or chump blocking more than any offensive and the Skeleton can be re-used multiple times for a small mana investment rather than just the one undying trigger on the Ghoul.I'd also think about replacing the Diabolic Tutors with Sidisi, Undead Vizier. Same effect for an extra mana but in this deck you'll likely keep her substantial deathtouching body afterward, and she also helps devotion count. Whether this would upset mana balance for you I don't know without testing.

I would probably second this. Maybeover the Shieldmate's. A deck maximising bestow will really appreciate lowering the costs of its best cards, and getting Eidolon of Countless Battles out sooner can never be a bad thing. Very interesting deck.
Never underestimate the ability to move counters around. Rather than losing that power from the board, you get to spread it around and beef up any lesser hydras or make big ones godly. That's still very much board advantage. In this deck, you could probably get away with losing either for God Xenagos. It's a matter of preference.
You'd largely be better off running Axebane Guardian's over the Slivers. Axebane will build off both itself and your Caryatids, rather than just the Slivers off of each other only. Xenagos, God of Revels is also something to consider making room for. Perhaps in place of the Mistcutter's and bring them in only against the blue matchup. Who doesn't love massive hasty hydras?
Think recent Brainstorm printings have been in Duel Decks or Commander, which I don't believe are Modern legal.
Would be tempted to drop the Civic Saber's and splash blue for Aqueous Form's. Boosts Ethereal Armor (which is where your explosive plays are), grants scry and evasion, costs 1, and a common in Standard. Looks like great fun though!
Well, it certainly looks like a fun deck. Huge amount of weaknesses, but that doesn't seem to be the point. The point is more that it's an interesting combo that seems fun, so credit should go to that more than functionality.Only thing that I could suggest to improve that fun aspect is mix up your Infinite Reflection targets. Nighthawk is very nice, but you could mix it up a little by using targets like Hypnotic Specter (Lot of free discard effects? Yes please!) or Blistergrub (Don't kill them and you die. Kill them and you still die!). Means you or your opponent will never quite know what's going to win you the game. But that's just my idea of fun.
Yeah that's why I think still think the deck is workable. You've given yourself options, rather than putting all your eggs into one basket. I like that.s0rinmark0v: I think you'll find you can't do that. As I understand it, once the Devil hits the field, that is the only opportunity you have to give it undying. When the opponent has to make the sacrifice choice, you pass priority to do so. If they then choose to sacrifice, it's sacrificed as it is. You can't do anything to it. So you can't have them sacrifice it and then say "In response, I give it undying", so they take 4 damage and undying brings it back. It doesn't work.Source: http://blogs.magicjudges.org/rulestips/2012/05/vexing-devil-and-fling-you-cant-get-8-damage-out-of-it/
Not quite sure who'd want to sac a Vexing Devil after you've put undying on it. Though I guess a 4/3 with next to no downside for RB is hardly bad. Assuming they don't remove it another way, then they've essentially 2 for 1'd you. Seems workable either way.
Archangel of Thune and Extort. That is some beautiful synergy right there. Can't really see any reason to suggest anything right now. I'd even keep Lilliana more for her mana ramp than her emblem as I can't imagine any half-clued in player letting you get that off, and Crypt Ghast does that job very nicely anyway. And Debt to the Deathless in multiplayer will see your friends behead you and hang your head as a trophy above the fireplace because it's just so strong in mana rampy decks, but it's so good for letting you cackle maniacally as you sweep overwhelming victory in a single turn.
Maze's End decks are always going to be slow. That's just a given when you're dealing with so many ETB tapped lands. It's whether you can last long enough. GyKx's deck uses a combo of creatures and SoS for that, and seems workable, though I have my doubts over a few choices. Your own deck likes to use a lot of effects that send troublesome permanents back into the library and Fog the offensive, which also seems effective. My own prefers to lock down troublesome permanents with enchantments for a full-on SoS shell, and wiping the board when overwhelmed. And that works well too.Standard does seem to be a challenging one to build it into though. There's a lot of helpful support in Modern, and it's nice to see a Maze's End deck that has the potential to work in Standard.Linking my own deck for reference: http://www.mtgvault.com/veggeh/decks/gates-of-safety/
In this scenario, the combo is only going to be used when Ajani's Chosen is out. Surely, if there's no other legitimate target for the Oblivion Ring when you want to stop the combo, you can just exile the Ajani's Chosen instead. Assuming it's not been nuked off in response, of course.
I do like this version better. And when I say "like" I mean I would want to reach across the table, take the deck, and tear it into thousands of tiny pieces because it annoyed the heck out of me. That's just how infect is. Ranger's Guile is a nice choice actually. Weak pump, but the hexproof stops people like me going "Lol, Azorius Charm".Good deck. And still budget. Even better!
True. It's somewhat risk/reward, but extremely potent when it comes together. I've quite often been on the wrong end of a turn 2 win against it, so it's certainly something to consider.
My counter-argument to that is "What good is life when you've already won?". Card advantage I can understand though.
Angelic Skirmisher is a nice card, but probably too slow for this kind of deck. You'd be playing it turn 5 ideally, but I'd rather be playing Finest Hour at that point if I didn't on turn 4 as that would most likely close the game out. Using the other two Noble Hierarch's instead will increase your chances of getting one out to ramp up quickly. And, if you're looking for unblockable, Invisible Stalker is a godsend. Enough that I usually play it over Artful Dodge in my own bant exalted deck, but can work alongside it too if you want to expand options.
Perhaps some consideration for Mutagenic Growth? Why waste time pumping up with mana when you can pump up with life instead? Also, Blight Mamba? Because infect isn't already douchey enough without regenerate. Neither card costs too much, if I recall.
I would agree with losing Contaminated Ground. While it's a nice enchantment, it's the kind that's more likely to be used aginst you by your opponents, and you'd probably do better with something like Oblivion Ring in its place to deal with problem permanents.Urban Evolution is fine to use in an enchantment shell. The card draw alone is nice. The extra land drop is obviously extremely useful for these decks. Unexpected Results can work too, but I personally dropped it in favour of more utility.I like the interaction between Urban Burgeoning and Crackling Perimeter. I'd say the perimeter is a must purely to give you an alternate win-con if your main win-con is shut down. The Urban Burgeoning can probably be replaced with something that supports your Maze's End win better, rather than the Crackling Perimeter win. A board wipe might help nicely, though you'd have to weigh the potential risk of losing your blockers if Sphere of Safety isn't up by that point.Into the Wilds is interesting. I'll be taking a further look at that myself for my own Maze's End deck in Modern.
Yep, that's correct. It's an odd choice, but one I feel would suit your purposes.
Before, so you can declare a different attacker if they tap it. They can keep it locked down before you can attack with it, but they'll lose a valuable blocker to do so. If they don't have a lot of blockers, it'll put them in a hell of a bind. More like a "How do I want to die?" mode. Theoretically.
