Deck Description

I have always wanted to build a Helix Pinnacle deck, so I finally did.
I also wanted to challenge myself to see if I could do it without using any creatures, but I will be willing to change that if this doesn't work. I plan to test it soon!

Deck discussion for Helix Pinnacle

add safe passage so you can prevent more life loss

I literally just made this deck about 2 hours ago, so I haven't had much time to review it, thanks!
Oh for fog, I was wondering, combat damage includes damage to the player, that is correct? I am just making sure.
And is it just damage by creatures, or damage by spells?

0

Fog is all combat damage to anything and anyone that would be dealt damage in the combat phase only. Safe passage is any damage whatsoever.

If you want to add creatures to this deck down the track I highly recommend the following 3, read them and you will see why.

Emrakul
Devoted Druid
Melira, Sylvok Outcast

I updated the comment with ideas for creatures if you ever want to add them.

0

I know about all of them, but the idea was to try to do this with out using any creatures, but I see where each of those would fit in nicely

0

wait, would Devoted druid and Melira, Sylvok Outcast generate an infinite mana loop?

Someone had that deck in a casual multiplayer we were doing, came to turn 3, pulled it off, we all just said, yup next game.

oh, dang, i have never seen a combo like that, that will be something that I will add to this plus it serves a dual purpose

0

Yup turn 1, Helix Pinnacle, turn 2 Devoted Druid, turn 3 Meleria, tap devoted druid 115 times for 115 mana, hardcast emrakul for the extra turn, put 100 counters on Pinnacle, pass the turn and win the game.

0

ya, you could do that!

0

Umm. Hate to say this but since it is a cost to put a -1/-1 counter on devoted druid, if it doesnt happen then it doesnt activate....

use ivy lane denizen, devoted druid, and presence of gond, put POG on devoted druid and tap her for a token and with ivy lane denizen you get a +1 +1 counter put it on devoted druid and keep tapping for infinite tokens, so say you tap her for 500 tokens, use elvish archdruid and tap him and add 1 green to your mana for each elf you control, sooo thats about 504 mana give or take..

No problem man. Try to focus on the doubling potential of a blue green mix if you can add it in.

hang on, does Vorel of the Hull Clade double the number of counters on Helix pinnacle?

0

no... only lands, creatures, and artifacts. awk.

dang, oh well, but if you were able to change a card type...

You can get Vorel to make the counters on Pinnacle happen, you need Opalescence however

Just remembered... There is an enchantment to go along with Melira. Its white. I forget the name but it makes it so you cant lose the game except through damage. And once your life is 0 you take poison counters. When you get ten you lose. Well... with melira you cant get poison counters... xD

and helix pinnacle has shroud so you couldn't target it anyway

0

I would just add Gilder Bairn doesn't work either as Helix Pinnacle has shroud.

In my opinion, Doubling Cube will be your best friend here. It will do what nothing else will.

Best of Luck to you!

And so you are right, thank you for pointing out this small detail to me! I will add doubling cube in place of it now!

0

Sort of, I had built one similar to this a while back, but just recently (yesterday) I improved it. So yes, I own most of this in real life. The ones that I don't own are currently proxies.

0

I have built a deck as well using Helix Pinnacle. Quite impressive. No proxies, never use them. Your deck is still quite excellent. Give my Helix Pinnacle deck a look see?

One problem. melira says that your creatures cant have -1/-1 counter placed on them. so you cant use the druids untap ability anymore when you have melira. she says can have placed on them. the elf says put on her. that is not a legal target anymore. so no infinite mana anymore. sorry. but you can still do the composite golem and nim deathmantel combo. xD

Yup turn 1, Helix Pinnacle, turn 2 Devoted Druid, turn 3 Meleria, tap devoted druid 115 times for 115 mana, hardcast emrakul for the extra turn, put 100 counters on Pinnacle, pass the turn and win the game.

0

Yeah, they don't work. Melira prevents Devoted Druid second ability from being used, completely.
There is a card called Quillspike which combo's with Devoted Druid, then creatures with persist combo with Melira (infinite if you have a sac outlet), but neither of those combos help Pinnacle. Maybe Greater Auramancy or Sterling Grove could help you out.

Persist and ashnods altar would do

0
Posted 14 November 2013 at 16:37

I agree, it is about time that somebody actually did something with helix pinnacle. WHAT DOES EVERYBODY THINK ABOUT ADDING IN OMNATH, WITH DOUBLING CUBE, THAT WOULD GO INSANELY FAST, and if omnath is destroyed, the mana can go straight to helix pinnacle.

0
Posted 14 November 2013 at 18:08

I am not seeing how persist would work with this...

0
Posted 14 November 2013 at 18:23

Melira plus persist creature means it can come back infinite times. Aahnods altar sacs for Mana so infinite Mana from the infinite sacrifice

0
Posted 14 November 2013 at 19:37

I said Persist wouldn't work, but that it is the only -1/-1 counter mechanic that works with Melira. A four card combo is silly with no way to search for it. Omnath should work well, I think. So why not try Omnath, Sterling Grove, and either more mana ramp (Rampant Growth/Nature's Lore), or some Llanowar Elves or Avacyn's Pilgrim?
Also, why Ashnod's Altar? Phyrexian Altar is just better, for that specific combo.

0
Posted 15 November 2013 at 02:07

So, I can't add in the type of ramp that you are talking about, due to the control in this deck. Destroy all creatures, doesn't effect me, I have no creatures, but if I had some, like Llanowar Elves, it would be destroyed. This deck was very carefully designed in this field.

please give me some advice on my helix pinnacle deck: 100 WIN?

0

Ya sure, but can you tell me if you think I should add omnath in? He would work amazing with doubling cube

0

i really like the stuffy doll with pariah combo going on here, if your opponant has no enchantment removal, you have basically won the game right there.

And i know ou were going for less creatures but something like keeper of the progenitus might help you, especially if you swap the sunpetal groves for temple gardens

0
Posted 15 November 2013 at 14:38

Ya, they would work, but the type of spells I run in this deck prevent me from doing that. Thanks though!

0

I liked devoted druid in here, I made a deck similar using it and Quillspike to make an infinite mana loop. Let me know what you think.

0
Posted 16 November 2013 at 02:32

Ya... how does that work though... it would only make quillspike an infinite/infinite, which don't get me wrong, is not bad, but where does the infinite mana come from?
