Deck Description

This is both an experimental and casual play deck. :D

The aim of this deck is to utilize Birthing Pod in alongside Research//Development allowing me to pull cards from my sideboard and shuffle them into main deck, then Pod them into play. While looking into cards to go along best with those I decided to abuse "comes into play" or "is sent to the graveyard" type abilities. To me Research along side Birthing Pod is a great combo so long as your deck can work without drawing either of them which is how I tried to build this deck. A plus to Research is it lets you put cards out of color into your sideboard and set up perfect situations on the field to Pod them into play. Though I'm aware of this I avoided adding black or white for flavor reasons and because I'm playing in a casual format.

Please leave any feedback of how to go about tweaking this deck to make it be a bit better with what you would add and/or remove for the main deck and the sideboard. If you'd like to suggest some out of color cards for the sideboard I'm open to whatever so please have at it. :3 In addition please let me know if my interpretation of the rules behind the card Research//Development are correct.

Deck discussion for Birthing Pod Reserch

As far as I know the Mana Curve chart is messed up because there are more then 1 card worth 6 lands in this deck. ^^;

Options for your 6 drops. Moltensteel Dragon could always be changed to something else. Possibly something like Inferno Titan since I see Mimic Vat. Primeval Titan if you have those would be good to pull land out from your deck.

If you are using research/development. Maybe you can add other colors to your sideboard because when you sac with birthing pod you just search for a sac'd creatures casting cost +1 so something like black creature Sheoldred, Whispering One as a 1 of could be used in your sideboard. That card is beast since you can get a creature back during your beg. upkeeps and opponents have to sac a creature on their beg. upkeeps and she has swampwalk. As long as the creature is in your library.(kinda like with protean hulk who can dump all your 6 creatures and below onto battlefield without worrying about color if that is how that card works.)

I see were your coming from with all of your comments Jjbinkz and thank you.

Moltensteel Dragon is in there as a stab flyer. Although a titan would combo like crazy with the vat Moltensteel is very flexable because I can bring him out on turn 4 and sack him into a Avenger of Zendikar. This is boosted even more with Treasure Mage in the deck allowing me to search for him. In addition Moltensteel allows for this deck a way to deal with fliers other then Terastodon.

I mentioned using other colors along with this deck in the description of the deck and state that it is possible though I choose not to for flavor reasons (being a casual player). Your suggestion of Sheoldred, Whispering One is a very solid suggestion so I will consider it.

Adding on to my last comment, if you were to run some giants in this deck in place of Moltensteel would you take out Treasure Mage? If so what would you replace Treasure Mage with?

Checked Oracle texts... I don't see any rulings on that card as far as color is concerned.. no oracle text from gatherer's or magiccards.info.

My question wasn't as concerned with color issues but rather the restrictions of the research side of Reserch/Development and if it is limited to your sideboard or not.

As far as color goes you can use any color in your deck and sideboard weather you have the lands to use them or not.
