Deck discussion for Standard - Jeskai Tokens?

I would also be running Monastery Mentor as an addition or a replacement to Mantis Rider. It generates tokens at ridiculous rates, and can easily take over entire games on its own if it goes unanswered for a couple of turns. Your deck looks a lot like a Jeskai tempo deck with a few token generators. I'd maybe cut the Chandra Pyromaster, 2 Magma Jets and a Mantis Rider to add 3x Monastery Mentor and a fourth Stoke the Flames, because those cards are crazy. Also, if your budget stretches to it, I'd run scry land and fetch lands instead of the lands that heal you. They both come into play tapped, but the scry lands give you good consistency and card quality, which is vital if you are playing the quick aggressive game that Jeskai decks should.

I am not sure if this is intentional, but Jeskai Ascendancy is a bit of a must for this style of deck. It will do more for you than almost any other single card. The +1/+1 buff and the looting are absolutely unbelievable, and sorta the cornerstone of Jeskai Tokens.

Also, cut your creature base to 8-10. I would recommend 8. The more non-creatures you have, the better. Subbing in a final hordling outburst is HIGHLY recommended.

Appreciate the replies. I was kind of trying to create a deck that would be somewhere in the middle between a combo/token list and a normal midrange list. Also, this is pre- FRF, so the Monastery Mentor's are possibilities now. I have not tried them yet, though.

The idea was to create more tokens then the (khans standard) jeskai/abzan decks could deal with, but have slightly bigger threats than the combo list. Those were the most prevalent decks where i play, so this was trying to be a bit of a metagame call.

So yes, the exclusion of the Ascendancy was intentional.

Also, the last stoke/outburst were just because i did not have the cards, but should probably have been included in the deck.

Also, about the healing lands, that was also a decision i made because I was running pain lands and confluences, and found myself taking a lot of damage from my lands. That was making games versus jeskai and burn very close, so i decided to just add a few healing lands to try to counteract that a little bit.

This deck has only played in a few tournaments, and had about a 75% win rate pre-FRF, and i went 3/2 in the post-FRF FNM a few days ago.

If your lands are giving you that much trouble, a couple of copies of Soulfire Grand Master might help out. This deck list could probably benefit from her effect. Otherwise, considering your play style, it seems fairly solid. Definitely plan a sideboard that contains some Glare of Herasy for Abzan deck lists. You have to do some unfavorable trades to kill Rhino otherwise. But that is sideboard tech.

As i said, I haven't modified this deck since khans standard. I will probably do that tomorrow, but glares and, well, an actual sideboard, do exist, I just havent put them on here yet.

As for the Grand Master, also haven't tried her, although i was planning on trying 2, moving the deflecting palm and chandra to the sideboard.

The other card i actually did get a chance to try out was Shaman of the Great Hunt. On the games where he survived for more than a turn, I immediately won. He also got to hit pretty hard whenever I played him, as i could generally keep the board fairly clear. It seems like a decent addition to a token theme like this. Also he turns into a 5/3, which does trade well into a Siege Rhino if they play one later.

Thanks for the input :D

Let us know how that Shammie goes with more play testing. I am interested in hearing more about his playability. A red Necropolis Regent seems good.
