Your adversary is trying to prevent you from summoning an all-powerful Demon into this realm! Your Apostles are preparing themselves to be sacrificed in a Dark Ritual that will bring forth the very entity that guards Death's Gate. Even if your enemies kill them, you will bring them back. For those in your Servitude can have No Rest until they have completed their task.
As you play, arrange your Shadowborn Apostles in a circle as if they're preparing to summon a Demon! If you can summon Demon of Death's Gate from your hand, do!But if you end up sacrificing 6 Apostles, search for Rune-Scarred Demon. This will let you get any remaining combo pieces you need to either:Bring all your Apostles back to life and start the summoning again.-or-Exile them all from your graveyard to replenish your life total. The sideboard contains a few other cards that you can swap in to match your play style. This kind of combo deck will never be truly competitive. My only thought is that you might want to see what works better between Dark Ritual, which is super flavorful, over something that would draw you cards, like Sign in Blood or Altar's Reap (Altar's Reap also very flavorful =) )

But who could possibly pass up a turn 1 Demon of Death's Gate!
When you get that hand, let me know. ;)
Click Sample Hands and find out!
Four Dark Rituals, Demon of Death's Gate, swamp, some other random card, haven't gotten that hand yet. =P
1 Dark Ritual, 3 Shadowborn Apostles, 1 Demon of Death's Gate. Though It is still a turn 2 without the Dark Ritual. I could definitely see replacing them, how would you modify the land ratio's for that change?
Probably wouldn't need to. In test draws I consistently got about two to three lands.
The way I am to arrange the Apostles is too funny. Funny/cool deck, sir.
