Deck Description

I'm trying to make a deck out of green and black mana colored cards. Black is here for control in the form of card destruction, while the black creatures are here for their aggressive edge. Green is there for the boosting spells that shorten the game by killing the opponent, and for aggressive creatures. Of course there are 2 planeswalkers, Garruk and Sorin, but boy does this deck suck.
I get owned horribly by a mono red gobling deck that my friend plays, a red white defender deck that he also plays, and a very incomplete hawkward deck. I want to atleast beat these decks, and eventually move onto a FNM or something.
Please Help!!!
I can't figure out why these decks are failing on their own!

Deck discussion for HELP! Black/ Green Aggro control

Here are some cards to consider (If you're on a budget):

-Black Sun's Zenith
-Whispering Specter
-Dismember (It's like 4.99 on coolstufinc.com these days)
-Phyrexian Crusader (Causes R/W decks to wet themselves a little)
-Necropede
-Fume Spitter

Take a look at my deck for any tips if you think it might help :)

Phyrexian Obliterator is probably the best defender in Magic. He also makes a great attacker in some instances. Vampire Nighthawk is a very solid defender that you can also use to swing for a difference in 4 life every turn. If nothing is done about the Nighthawk, that seemingly harmless two damage can really accumulate. If you want a stompy theme, run more removal spells and add in Abyssal Persecutor. a 66 flying/trample for 4 mana is pretty tough to beat.

Run Verdant Catacombs over Terramorphic expanse, the lands won't come into play tapped.

Running a playset of everything I listed should help quite a bit. Although, the Obliterators and Catacombs are kind of pricey.

I would agree with running Phyrexian Obliterator but not necessarily in this build. While he is the best way to put your opponent on a clock, his BBBB mana cost would be incredibly cumbersome in a two color deck.

Therefore, I would suggest, as Chainer's has, Dismember. It will help ensure that your path is clear for the creature you do have will get through. The pump you have should be more than sufficient enough to maintain a stable creature-based kill condition.

Hope this helps! If you get a chance, I welcome any comments you could offer on any of the decks I have posted here. Just click on my name to see the deck list. Thanks!

Just chiming in to say that those terramorphic expanses that you're running probably aren't helping you much. They really only give you an automatically tapped basic land when you play them. I would run Cultivate and a few basic lands instead of those.

Alternatively, you can run a Rupture Spire to get a mana of any color of your choice on the following turns, or play Sakura-tribe Elders if you need to chump-block some goblins out of your friend's deck (you can sacrifice them after declaring a block and put a tapped basic land on the field from your library). Also, there's a green spell called Overgrowth that I've toyed with, it enchants a land to give GG whenever tapped, in addition to it's normal ability. There's also the Vivid [Land] series, can generate its color anytime, or generate a different color twice. Also, the Golgari Signet would be good for you.

I guess what I'm getting at is that Terramorphic Expanse is bad, there are a lot of better options for you if you need to pick specific-colored lands.

As far as creatures, I would trade out those Tormented souls for several Child of Night(s), as they're a good, cheap blocking option in addition to having lifelink.

hell you give a good challenge. but i do run both green and black decks so maybe i can help a little.
1st with ur mana ramp id find a primordial hydra. he is an xgg cost and for what ever u paid in x u get a 1/1 counter witch doubles every turn
2nd id drop sorin, personal preferance id run 2 garruks.
3rd mana ramp elves, and get more in land fetch such as cultivate and explore i belive, rites of florurishing(careful with this card might help the red) but just dropping ur mana curve will help out a omnath might help also but then ud pretty much be dropping all ur black following what i say
