Ball Lightning right hook

This once legal deck was (with the older rules of the mid 1990s) capable of winning in the first move before the other player had a chance at his or her turn. I suppose it is not legal in tournament play now, but I was able to use this deck along with a similar deck in a two on two tournament. We did quite well.

"I will play my ball lightning and giant growth it. and berserk it."
"I will fork that berserk"
"Ok Attack for 36 points. and tap the supplicant and sacrifice the ball lightning for half more damage of 18 points to him over there."
"Yep and I lighning bolt him for 3 more."
"Hey whats that mean?!"
"It means you two lost."
"Great game... what no handshake?"


It's funny. I was a very good magic player and deck builder back in the day. However now, I feel like a dunce. I am relearning everything. One of my goals is to build a kick butt cheap common card deck. But I would still like to see what this deck can do to a modern deck. If someone out there gets bored and proxies this and can test it out against a modern tournament deck, let me know how it did. I would really be interested. Thanks.

Basically you take the Ball lightning which you hope and pray gets in your hand fast, and get it out on the table sometime after a freyalise Supplicant is in play. You attack with the ball lightning and sacrifice with the supplicant for 3 more points of damage. Of course its best to pump the BL up first. It's going to the graveyard anyway. I actually am going to be so bold as to say I invented this move. I used to work at a store that was a dealer for wizards. The morning the delivery came in which was the release date, I saw the Freyalise Supplicant card and since I was using a ball lightning deck already I immediately saw the potential. So I would say it was about 10:30 am on the ice age release date I came up with this. However someone at wizards probably saw it when they made it. So who really cares. But I still love the move. Funny... I always liked Channel fireball too. lol. And that was a legal move when I played.

I added another element to this deck per Seton in the deck discussion below. He mentioned a couple of cards that would work very well in this deck. Also my lack of flyers issue is actually moot if I can get this snowball rolling downhill quick. Besides I do have my mana birds which are actually flyers. (Anyone know of a cheap mana cost red or green flyer that is actually good let me know) So I stuck in some Hellspark Elementals which are mini Ball Lightnings that can come back and the assault strobe, because what's not to like about a 20 something Ball Lightning hitting you twice. It just makes this a better two man deck.

Capable of winning in the first draw if you get a Forest, Mox Emerald, Black Lotus, Ball Lighting, Bloodlust, Berserk, Tinder Wall and whatever you happen to get in the draw. So long as these 7 cards are in your hand during your first turn before your opponent has any cards on the table, you can win. Of course Channel Fireball is easier and just as bad but, illegal. sigh.

Play the forest, lotus and Mox emerald. Tap all for mana. 3 red and 2 green.
Play the ball lightning, and tinder wall.
sacrifice the tinderwall for 2 red. (You should have 1 green and 2 red now)
Play bloodlust and berserk the creature.
The ball lightning is a 20/1 trample creature.
Point your finger at your opponent and taunt them.
Taunt them a second time.

Proxy this deck and have some fun with it. Tweak it and just have fun.
