Deck Description

So, I am a heavy duty Orzhov player, and due to the resurgence of its ability according to the last pro tour, I am going to once again make an attempt. This is that attempt, and it hopefully will kick blue-devo butt at my next standard tournament.

How to Play

The idea, essentially, is to use your lower drops to stabilize the game, and then use brute force techniques like the Demon to punch a hole in their gut. Precinct Captain was impressive during pro tour, and should be a priority to get on the board because he attracts removal. High Priest is versatile because of that combo with the cure, you know, to destroy a non-land permanent. Regardless, some will question that choice, but his job is to stabilize, and he's pretty damn good at it. Blood Baron is an extension of the win-more, if the opponent is in color. Otherwise, he's a good stabilizer, and actually is a decent win-con if you hit that specification. Obzedat is Obzedat.

Deck discussion for Orzhov Midrange

The deck went four-one at an FMN game with 24 people, winning a match-up against some kind of GW hatebears that used Voice way to much, a RDW that tried way to hard with it's reckoners (highly susceptible to doom blades), an Orzhov deck that pretty much was this one, and a Green splashed Red mana-ramp deck. It lost to Blue Devo due to, well, horrid drawing, namely a read the bones into two more read the bones and then 3 lands. Flipped a table.

I would try to fit in Elspeth, Sun's Champion. Amazing card for b/w mid-range if you have the 35.00 dollars to drop on one of her. Paul Rietzl runs her and it works pretty effectively. I like Pharika's Cure, but not over thoughtseize. If you're worried about life gain after getting rid of Pharika's Cure, a nifty combo I use in my deck, which is also b/w, is merchant of asphodel plus pack rat. Since copies of pack rat are exactly pack rat they count towards your devotion AND running an underworld connections on the board means a lot of damage. Has been doing me great favors though I am considering reverting back to my old b/w deck after seeing a few other better one drops.
Hope this helps!
