Deck Description

He's back...and this time, he's MAD!
Okay, so the deck doesn't revolve solely around Phyrexian Obliterator cause that would be way too risky. But there are other great cards to remove their creatures/permanents/life, while you gain life and powerful creatures!

How to Play

First off, it really helps to be mono-black, swamps-only. Not just for casting costs/devotion, but also because of Lashwrithe.

For removal, use Victim of Night. For removal/life gain, Vampire Nighthawk, probably one of the best 3-drops ever. For life loss/life gain, Gray Merchant of Asphodel. For life loss, Geralf's Messenger makes them lose life (twice!), and to prevent your opponent from gaining life, Erebos (also card draw if you need).

For protection, use Spellskite. It steals their abilities and buff spells. It goes without saying that you should attack with Geralf's Messenger once he untaps because even if he suicide attacks, he comes back stronger and deals 2 damage instantly.
Lashwrite also provides you with at least a 4/4 creature (remember what I said about swamps-only?). You can attach him to the Obliterator for a 9/9 trample with forced sacrifice. No one is going to want to block him if he attacks, or want to attack you if he defends!

Depending on the situation, I've used Phyrexian Metamorph to copy the Obliterator, Gray Merchant (for a game-ender), or copy one of their creatures if it helped me.

Yes, the mana curve is slightly high, but that's what the Dark Rituals are for. You can possibly get the Obliterator out by turn 2. =)

Deck discussion for The Mad Phyrexian Obliterator

Weak against control, but aren't most decks? So far, it's been pretty successful on casual tourneys. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks for the input!

I know you want swamps for Lashwrithe, but including a few Cabal Coffers and an Urborg would open up your mana acceleration quite a bit. You could also then include some things that are wonderful mana sinks like Nantuko Shade, Mind Twist, Exsanguinate, etc. It'd also really open up some draw engines like Confidant, GriselBanned, Arena and similar because you could more easily play your entire hand out.

I'm also a little bit concerned by the lack of 1-drops. If you don't start with a rit, you're in trouble. Dismember or thoughtseize could help out there.

I like the inclusion of metamorph and Skite as your control elements in lieu of the more common Hymn and\or Dash Hopes, but I think you could make the deck more aggressive with a few changes.

Good suggestions for the mana ramp since I won't always get a ritual. Hate to pour more money into this since it's already on the high side, but yeah, the Cabal Coffers and Urborg would really help with mana ramp.

Did you hear? They are reprinting Urborg in M15! The price will surely drop, phew!

Yes and no. It'll be just like thoughtseize. New one will be about 15-20 dollars, old one will remain at 40-45.
Just like reprinting Phyrexian Revoker and Pain Lands won't effect their prices.

Oh I had no idea about the prices. Still though, that would really help! Thanks!

I actually built a deck whose sole purpose in life, is to turn 1 Phyrexian Obliterator or Demigod of Revenge. This is the link;
