Mill and creature deck in one. Speed mill in standard!!! Cast epic experiment for at least x=5 and watch the fun ensue. If you have Young Pyromancer out you make 3-6 1/1's on top of all the spell effects and if you are lucky enough to draw both traumatizes and a psychic spiral then you win. Traumatize them, Traumatize yourself and then Psychic Spiral for the win. Only big issue you will have is with aggro decks. Thus the sideboard full of creatures. Kind of like 2 decks in 1.
Cast away and build your mana base for huge epic experiments. Be ready to side board to a creature deck against aggro, control (sometimes), dredge.

I like your tweak job! Excuse my french, but holy crap tablet of the guilds is amazing.Whelming wave ... how about cyclonic rift instead. Dual casting would be ... epic. Jace is really good, but I feel that Chandra is more in keeping with the flavor of epic experiment.Really nice work.Oh, and I'd have 15 Islands and 7 Mountains to fit the mana split.

Thanks for the mana idea, I switched it to be a little heavier on the islands. I very rarely need more islands and more often need one of both. I have both cyclonic rift and whelming waves so I am good there. The tablet is awesome, I had never used it before this and it is very helpful. It really helps me stay alive long enough for the mill. I switched out Jace for Chandra and actually am thinking of Ral Zarek as well. Jace was there to speed up the mill but I don't think it is necessary thus why he was side boarded. Chandra and Ral will give me a different flare. I want to use this in tournaments and if you run into someone playing out to their graveyards or someone with a shuffle your graveyard into your hand the deck is dead. Thus Chandra or Ral and the rest of the sideboard will be a very good creature deck on its own. Keep the ideas coming I appreciate them. I think there could be a better card than quicken.... any suggestions?
Quiken ... BRB, mtg gatherer time.
Well ... for one mana, lighting bolt is the king of damage, and tomb scour the king of mill. However, to really fill the void, skullcrack is amazing.Dual casting might give your opponent nightmares, but it is not tertibly effective with so few creatures.
Oh, and the holy trinity of blue/red creatures is young pyromancer, delver of secrets, and snapcaster Mage. I would drop mill for a stronger emphasis on burn/control. You could combine some mill with your control ... for example, Chronic Flooding.
chronic flooding is great but doesn't work with epic experiment. I've been tossing around skullcrack. I think I am going with thoughtflare for now. Remember the plan is to mill myself to use psychic spiral to mill the opponent. everything else is to survive until then and fill the graveyard. I think blast of genius could be fun or opportunity. Wild ricochet might be nice too. I like fated conflagration too. Scry and drawing cards seems to be useful. Sudden storm???
I could use swan song as a counter or even counter my own to get the swan in I get a spell I don't need.
You are quite right about chronic flooding, but I was just using it as an example.Magma jet removes a pesky 2 power creature, then scrys for 2. Oh, and it works with Goblin Electromancer. Oh, and you have 8 thougtflares. If you really want to cover your bases, counterflux, remand, or redirect might help.Putting a creature like blistercoil weird or young pyromancer is a good idea if your combo takes a while to set up. Eventually your opponent will get a creature out by turn 2 or 3 if he's good enough to recognixe that you are a control deck (yes, mill is control and can have serious trouble against well-built aggro decks). Finally, your mana curve is high with few one drops. Why not add tome scour or mugging?
Hey, could you guys weigh in on a burn deck of mine?http://www.mtgvault.com/knightofthehokeypokey/decks/firepower/
Yeah but those don't work with epic experiment either. Nice call on blistercoil. That might be a better sideboard than chandra. I think you mean thought scour BTW. Mugging could work early game and late. I like it. Yeah I am wide open to aggro.
Wait, I didn't mean blistercoil, I meant nivmagus elemental.I prefer nivix cyclops to izzet staticaster, but that's a personal taste.
I like Blistercoil being a one drop. My mana curve is a little high already. Cool card though.
You're right tome scour is the right choice
Used this in a multi-format tournament and dominated the modern decks with my standard. More to follow.
Great to hear that!
