Wall of Text Inc.I've been crushed for 5 consistent weeks in standard trying this deck, costing me a finite yet costly amount of dual lands and trades. I have 2 weeks left to make this deck viable or lose all the money invested in the process to amount to around 300 dollars. I've made a Boros deck in the past week, but have no real desire to play it.My problems with this deck started with too many win conditions, and not enough blockers/removal. Week 2, too slow. Week 3 I played against a gravecrwaler, and griselbrand deck in the LOWEST bracket of the tournament, and got crushed... not to mention by everything on the way. Week 4, had the spells, lasted the tests of time, both almost wins came down to less than 10 cards in opponents library, and dumb plays on my part. Scoring 1-2 and 0-2 in all tourneys doesn't win me cards, and is definitely not entertaining.I reached the point of selling this deck for scrap last week, when the store owner gave me a booster pack of innistrad and said "No one here can lose with that much dignity and still keep a straight face.." and also "you have good sportsmanship". Really?! ::sigh:: My sideboard is constructed of cards I'm able to get my hands on that I am thinking about implementing in the main deck. And from suggestions from posters on the forum.
I have had lots of ideas and have read quite a bit to help my win conditions. I plan to use Consuming Aberration with Artful Dodge as well as Essence Harvest. ( Both of which are not in this current deck). I liked using Mind Sculpt with Jace's Phantasm and Dream Twist, I could almost guarantee a 5/5 flyer by turn 3, this however was to slow to do most of the time, and 12 cards from the whole deck for a combo like this got pretty rough. I really like the combination Jace offers with the Duskmantle Guildmage, but have a hard time keeping either one out long enough to combo them.I have some ideas for some Invisible Stalkers with cipher spells and Trepanation Blade. This could turn into victory quickly if i could throw in some other things as well, including Silver Inlaid Dagger and Inquisitor's Flail. But fear that this deck would be it's own win combination. Any help or thoughts on the matter would be great. I'd prefer to do it without splashing white, because I can't currently afford the dual lands for 2 more guilds. lmk-3rd

The problem with this deck is that your playing to much control and stall. Have you considered splashing green for mana ramp like ranger's path and farseek so that you can use cards like mind grind more effectively. For a mill deck you should always have at least 3 mind sculpts and you could also use cards like increasing devotion (which has a good flashback cost) Snapcaster mage is a good idea but you don't have many good spells to cast using his ability.I would take out the dispels, murder and the negate for 4 mind sculpts. Then for 4 mana you can play snapcaster mage and play those spells again.

Stuffman, thanks for the post.Mind Sculpt was in a previous version, and I'll put it back in. Thanks for suggestion of splashing green i'll add those cards to my sideboard, so i can look at implementing them later, effectively doubling what my x cards will hit for. I think this will improve the effectiveness of the deck as I've seem to have lost by only one or 2 turns.
if your goin for mill then focus on mill. not stall or ramp. the current is great for a fast pace mill with little control *spells like sleep*
Reminds me of my last Standard-FNM night where I went 0-2 1-2 0-2 0-2 with my dimir which I though wasnt too bad. For your deck: Drop some of the high-cmc spells and add some removal and 2 more fog bank imo.also, check out this deck, which is simliar to yours: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/dimir-mill-control-3-1-1st-fnm/ !Best of luck in the future
My suggestions:4x Jace's Phantasm instead of the Guildmage (if you want to convert your mill into damage the Phantasm will be better and your spells are more efficient in milling than the mage)2x Grisly Spectacle instead of the Fog Banks / an Augur / the Psychic Spiral / one Jace2x Psychic Strike and 1x Thought Scour instead of DissipateMaybe take a look at my mill deck http://www.mtgvault.com/cruncher/decks/standard-mill/
