This deck is not a pure 'control' deck in the strict sense as it plays only a few counterspells (Disdainful Stroke, possibly Temur Charm), but it is aimed at delaying the early game and striking in the late game.Anger of the gods is your preferred strategy versus Mono red aggro or Jeskai tokens; the sideboard even holds a fourth copy and a possible synergy with hornet nest. Most of your own creatures will survive it. Sylvan Caryatid doesn't, but I really feel like that one is too important to leave out. Versus Abzan, roast is an important card and disdainful stroke is also important to stop Siege Rhino, Wingmate Roc or Tasigur (which all die to a roast). Anger of the gods still kills their cheaper creatures but doesn't remove the bigger ones. All planeswalkers are great. Don't be afraid to include 3 Sarkhan Unbroken: if you happen to hold two, just make a dragon when you cast the first one. If Sarkhan Survives, make another one and play the second Sarkhan. Both Sarkhans provide solid win conditions, although ultimating Sarkhan Unbroken is of little value in this deck. Kiora and Xenagos can prevent damage/create blocker tokens and can also help you speed up your mana, while their tokens can also provide win conditions. Ugin is very expensive, but goes nuts once you get him on the table. I like the 'surprise' element of Surrak, especially when you use him to block a creature (like Siege Rhino) and then immediatly attack on your turn. But the deck can probably go without him (an extra Stormbreath or Sarkhan would do fine).
Try to survive the early game and strike once you have the upper hand! I'll be playtesting this build soon to see if it needs any changes. Further suggestions are appreciated!
