Main Deck (60 cards)

Sideboard (15 cards)

Sorceries (4)

Instants (8)

Enchantments (3)

Submit a list of cards below to bulk import them all into your sideboard. Post one card per line using a format like "4x Birds of Paradise" or "1 Blaze", you can even enter just the card name by itself like "Wrath of God" for single cards.

Deck Description

A few of my friends have the Kiora half of the duel deck Elispeth vs. Kiora, which gave me the idea of making a control deck based around putting things back into your hand.

How to Play

Main goal here is to use startled awake as many times as possible. Either by keeping the board clear enough to attack and return it, or by having it on the board and returning everything at once. Don't worry too much about the little 1/1's or 2/2's, as dampening pulse should do something about those. Use your counters (Invasive and Dispel) to stop any other spells that have a big impact on the game.

Oh. Where do I start???

Normally I'd advice you to play less than 3 taplands, but skyline cascade may actually be of use.
I'd also try playing with 25 lands, since you have a lot of cards costing 5+.

I also guess that you and your friends are new to the game (Based on your cardpool) so I'll stay within the general outlook.

I love talent of the telepath myself, and have written an extensive guide on it for modern use somewhere.
Try to get 4 of it.

Jace may be good if he can survive. What you want to ask yourself is how many dead cards do you want in your hand?
If you are unlucky and draw 1-2 more jace's they will be dead cards while in your hand. I'd cut 1.

If you can get 4 noxious revival, you will be able to use them with talent of the telepath (Controlling what effects you get out of the talent) reuse startled awake and boost the thing in the ice (play 4 things as well)

Remember, TiTi (thing in the ice) is your main alternate win condition. so like Wickeddarkman said, add 4. The reasoning for jace being cut is becasue of the planeswalker-legend rule. You dont need him to stay on the field all that long. just -2 him when he drops. so if you do that twice, you'll win by them milling 52 by then.

Sweet! Thanks for the advice guys!

Wicked: Yes, me and my friends are pretty new, I only started about 3 years ago, but never got really into it until recently (4ish months ago), and recently, I've been pretty obsessed with building a killer standard deck. This is just another attempt at that. Oh, that fits in your comment on noxious revival. That would be an amazing card in this deck, it really helps, but it's not standard. :( I would love to fit it in a modern/non-standard version of this deck, so I may try that soon, or you're welcome to!

I've modified the sideboard to fit 4 of the Talent of the Telepath in, as per your suggestion, as well as cutting a Jace for a TiTI(as also suggested by Dagger). The biggest reason I had Jace in there is because I realllllllly love him, but I understand why he can be cut, and agree.

Again, thanks for the advice!

If you wanna add to the milling, manic scribe could be your safest creature bet. With delirium, it mills 3 every turn. But with all of these high costing cards, mage ring network is great for ramping up.

I do love me some manic scribe, the only problem is the constant returning. Actually, now that I think about it... every time he enters, they mill... he's not to bad after all... I shall fit him in somewhere. Thanks! And I've already added Mage-Ring Network in, thanks for that one!

It's a bit outdated already :D A lot has happened to the meta after the eldrazi lost their eye.

With emrakul only being played in nahiri control, it is actually time for mill to take back the meta for a while :D
Nahiri control is basically the old URW-MID with -2 cryptic command, -2 sphinx's revelation and +4 nahiri.
I ate URW for lunch with my own milldesigns back then.

The meta is wide open for mill to resurface.
I'd actually try out the decks of the past before building anything new.

Newest mill is by michael coleman, and I frankly find it to be lacking in design, but he won, and I can't take that from him.

Try building a hybrid between the three :D
